the rumors are wrong. Lovelace is more efficient not least by the 4n shrink. as most know, a node shrink can bring you greater efficiency and/or greater performance (depending on the uArch). Nvidia's halo is going for raw power and brute force, but i suspect entry to mid-level RTX to actually have lower TDP than 3xxx head to head. the biggest issue no-one has directly addressed is all that power takes regulation and thick pcbs which directly affects cost. so a large chunk of the price for 4xxx is the same as 3xx, but worse. what i'm hoping for (wishing really) is such a performance boost for 4060/70 to allow 4k gaming at a reasonable ( 🙄) price.

With my overclocked 3090 I'm consistently around 440W, but every retail 3090 owner has to flash a bios to reach this. 3090 were hold back by their power limit imo.
Depends on what 3090 you got - my strix does 480 watts with stock bios 🙂

I'll be damned, thought it was reserved for Tis models. By default my card (MSI gaming X trio) is capping around 410W (107% Power target). When did you get it? Maybe only the first few batches of 3090 was more power limited.

On release day. The strix always had a 480 watt power limit - you can see it in hillberts day 1 review aswell 🙂

You wouldn't believe what I would eat if it was true! PS: don't tell nobody, it's nasty!...:p Edit: if the next-generation budget card is as fast as a 3070ti that would bring a big smile to a lot of folks! RTX 4060?

IF you rais the powelimit slider in like Msi Afterburner 😉 I think it's 450w stock 100% powerlimit.

Guess it'll be pleasant to run all games at 120fps but I'll be waiting for some people to buy and test the 4090 before I start monitoring stock trackers and telegrams for one as they could give issues on the OLED C9 TV from LG like when the 3090 came out. Plus if they sell out the 2nd hand price of my 3090 GXT will go up like my 2080ti did 2 years ago and the new card will again cost me nothing like the 3090 did. Sold 2080ti for £1580 and bought 3090 for £1580 because CCL only sell to existing customers with orders and an account history.
