GPU prices will not go down until it is no longer possible to make money by just running them 24/7. This is the new reality. We can either accept it or move on to something else. Corporations are here to maximise profits, not to offer us a helping hand. No one at AMD or Nvidia cares about the poor little gamers. We can either mine with everyone else or raise our own prices to make up for the shortfall.

528€?! Holy crap, that's way too high. A 400€ would be the spot.
My thought exactly at 530 E that's now getting close to what my RTX 2080 cost brand new 3 years ago...

You got to be kidding me , nvidia made a new toy that miners will be seeking like there is no tomorrow since the first review has been done and this crap 2060 12gb is better at mining than the highly seeked rtx 3060 by miners 😡 , Darn you nvidia ! It is worse at gaming than 2060 super but it's a lot better by far at mining , i know nvidia knew it , targeted towards miners NOT gamers ... " Their review brings some interesting results, but gaming aside, this card is actually better in crypto mining than RTX 3060, which pretty much kills this card the moment it launches. " Sources and full review: https://videocardz.com/newz/nvidia-launches-geforce-rtx-2060-12gb-a-perfect-card-for-crypto-miners - https://www.pcmarket.com.hk/rtx-2060-12gb-review/

Sounds to me like nvidia are actually trying to steer miners away from gamer cards then. That is unless they don't immediately turn around and can the 3060 in favour of another mining SKU.

@CrazY_Milojko while i do not disagree i think you did not consider the countless rebrands over time this time they did not rename it .... For example 290 to 390. 8800gt to 9800...680 to 770...7970 to 280 to 380 And i can keep going is not really unusual re-releasing older skus with slight changes ... But normally they are rebranded as something else.

wow i was thinking 300-350usd would be reasonable but with the current gpu climate i should have know better.... guess ill keep dreaming my gtx 1080 will have to stick it out a little longer good thing i threw a liquid cooler on it a few years ago lol

I've seen a screenshot of various RTX 2060 12GB going from about 600 Euro to about 700 Euro.....so, it's not gonna be worth it. They're supposedly better at mining than the RTX 3060, so we can roughly extrapolate what kind of rigs they'd end up in.

No, they are double dipping, by exploiting the GP. Scum.

Are people still making up excuses about miners or supply chain problems? Could it be, could it just be, that Nvidia and AMD simply raised prices to make bigger profits 'cause they can get away with it?

I know about rebrands AMD and NVidia were doing in the past, everybody here on Guru3D know about that, wanted to add some of it in the comment too but that what happened in the past (almost) has nothing to do with "new" 2060. But this time with this NVidia's resurrection of 2060 (where did they dig those chips from!?) it is completely different/new situation, completely new level of greed, higher than anything we saw in the past. Not just that NVidia is re-releasing old (almost 3 years old!) tech with the same name but they're charging extra-extra for the old tech + these "new" 2060 are not LHR restricted cards so they're even better for mining compared to 3060 LHR or 6600/6600XT, miners are already drooling over these "new" 2060 cards, doesn't matter if they're going to cost $300, $600 or $800 and all of us here are aware that miners were the primary target/market fot these "new" 2060 cards, not gamers, entusiasts, content creators or anyone else. Only naive ones could think this NVidia's move is "for the gamers" (although iirc NVidia never claimed they were re-releasing 2060 for the gamers), clear as a sky this move in nothing more than NVidia's "grab cash while this madness lasts" approach. No doubt both Jensen and NVidia shareholders are happy like pigs in a mud with this "new" 2060 re-launch but at the same time doing this while they're filling their pockets they're supporting just mining market but completely destroy those markets on the other side of the fence, those ones who were supporting them past few decades so that they could become what they are now. Seems like these days it's all about money grab, pure greed, everywhere, how people/world could changed so much in just a few years? NVidia acts atm like pissing on the grave of someone close who help them in life while funneral is not even over yet. On the other hand hats off to those ones at NVidia who got the idea to re-release 2060, big fat bonus paycheck is what they're going to expect for the Christmas, no way I'd have a stomach to do that just because of money, but others could do anything for money, just make a right offer. Guess as they say here: "money drills where drill can't".

This has been asked and answered a dozen times already. Yes, they did. They couldn't afford not to. When you make a product and then have it resold at four or five times your MSRP then you are allowing others to de facto steal your potential profits. Both companies raised their prices to squeeze out scalpers and retailer margins. Now, if this doesn't work, they will continue to raise prices until reseller margins are back to what they used to be, or there is a persistent downturn in sales. Corporations aren't charities, and they certainly aren't anyone's friend. Their sole reason for being is to make money for their shareholders. This is also why monopolies and oligopolies with high barriers to entry are really bad for us.

Spot on, but to simplify => Price Elasticity of Demand

100% , it's product aimed with intend for miners , normally they wouldn't sell it , but it is excellent opportunity to sell old chips at premium price. I mean who can blaim nVidia , no one would pass on such opportunity . It is free money , pure steal . Gamers ? No one cares on corpo side , they will manage if no , we can offer 200 eur /year GeforceNow service. Nvidia is very good at making money , and now they make it on all fronts . Hell i think they could ressurect GTX10 series and make money out of it now.

Cool story. But it is monopolies like Nvidia that set prices, not the market. They do it because they can get away with it. There is no rational market explanation, no matter how much we think Jensen Huang and Lisa Su are nice people. The pandemic has been the perfect excuse for these large chip makers to fortify their monopolistic aims.

It's indeed a cool story that has been going on, unbroken, since the ancient Egypt: the capitalist law of supply and demand.

I think you mean 'free market law', not 'capitalist law'. Capitalism is more of an ideology, than an economic measuring tool.
