The card is alright... I mean it's nice if your coming from old hardware but otherwise we've had this performance for two years now...maybe not at a launch price of 400$ but still 7970GE performance for maybe a little lower, up the res and the 256-bit bus gets in the way. The memory OCing is impressive yet still falls to the 7970 clock for clock and OC to OC. That's to be expected since it's a rebrand 680. Would've have been interesting to implement a 384-bit bus. Honestly hoping it drives 7970 prices down. http://www.overclockers.com/asus-gtx-770-directcu-ii-oc-graphics-card-review/ http://cdn.overclock.net/7/71/900x900px-LL-7193c4be_asus_gtx770-49.png

I agree. If I had a 580 right now, I'd definitly buy a 780 since the performance gap is worth the money imo. That's the reason why I always tend to skip a generation.
7% faster of the 680 ands equal of the 7970Ghz .. why they have not buy a 680 before ? and this card is slower of all the 680 stock overclocked ( EVGA FTW, MSI lighting 680, DCII ),, you are joking or what ? At least if the reference model was use 50mhz more + 4GB it will be on equality with the 680 4gb model from EVGA and other 680 AIB.

That HIS 7970 X Turbo in the overclockers bench is such a dumb and overpriced card. I can hit those speeds with ease on a non-Ghz Sapphire dual-x that I bought for 420 USD over a year ago. IMO, the whole Ghz line is a ripoff and now AMD is going to suffer for the higher price unless they drop it fast. edit: I think AMD should learn fast that in the end, greed never pays, unless you're Nvidia. 🙂

Preaching to the choir my friend. Look at my diamond 😉 I'm not a fan of the ghz editions boost or price.

I know, it's silly how some reviews talk about the amazing value of the $400 770, ignoring the 7970 non-ghz which can be had for less than that and with four games for months. I mean, who actually runs a 7970 at 925 mhz, 1050 is basically a given and quite a bit more is possible in most cases. I did read somewhere though that the 770 blows out perfumed air and the gentle hum of it's fans relieves tension headaches.

I`m looking for the 770 review thread, has anybody seen it?

Most comments here are talking about the upgrade route. My question would be if your current card(s) dies today what would you buy to replace it/them? I would get a GTX 770. Anything faster is out of my price range.

Honestly? Wait for the RMA lol. I suppose if I had the money another 7970. The price is what bothers me but nvidia is leading so they can do what they please. 350 is more appropriate IMO maybe even 300$. My problem is I really dislike the bus width for Kepler it s a serious limitation at higher res. And 2gb isn't enough IMO. Then the OC range is about the same as the 680 with the exception of the memory. Its a great card if your not into tweaking otherwise its cheaper 680 Ghz edition if you will.

Honestly, "Buy to replace" is not the same as RMA. ...what res do you game at?

Never stated it was. I said i wouldn't be able to afford to replace it with another 800$ worth of cards. I would probably use a backup and wait for RMA. Hence me stating if i had the money another 7970. 1080p Currently which is enough for 2gb but soon 3240x1920...so the 770 doesn't appeal to me so much as the 7970. As i said before if your coming from older hardware 6000/500 series it's a worthy upgrade. Otherwise it's a rebranded 680 with higher clocks.

My apologies, I was trying to exclude upgrades, Sli or CFX current card and RMA's from my question. Will you need to CFX your 7970 for 3240x1920 resolution?

No worries, i understood your point. Actually it's going to require Trifire or better but it's somewhat fluctuating. Right now i'm about to have all the parts to build it. Then the water cooling components will come at the end of the summer and the other two Asus VG248QEs later in the year. I actually have two 7970s right now, problem is my Diamond is fine, but my XFX has been a nightmare, on the third RMA :'(. Right now i have an 800D and a 3570k in my room. Just got the money for the rest of the build. I've given thought to staying with a single 120hz monitor though because i believe to maintain a setup of this nature is going to be very pricey. Which is why i'm hoping the 8970 beats the 780 and drives the price down so i can sell my 7970s and get 780s, it would be much easier to be a little more future proof with Tri-SLi 780s for gaming at 3240x1920 and then add a fourth later, sell off shortly before maxwell/Volcanic Islands then pick up two of those again..idk it's complicated lol.
