Oh that's interesting. I remember people flashing HD7950 to 7970 or something similar. This is a new level.
This all also explains how NVIDAI can tie GDDR5X memory...
Boss, you misspelled NOVIDIA. 😀 edit : fixed!
Yeah Nvidia, bring us that sweet half-def... erm I mean half-working GP104 GTX 1060!

This shows how much profit they actually make on a gtx 1080 since this is basically a 1080 being artificially cut down. Now I know alot ot these might have already been defective so they where trash anyways but I doubt it's so many that they can spin a new 1060 sku out of it.

So this would be what.. The 5th variation of the 1060?

Why not call it a 1060ti?? Is it going to lack less than a 10% performance increase? too many "1060s".

no it seem to be the 7th if i am right: - GTX1060 complete 3go (asia) - GTX1060 cut down 3go (normal 6go one for us) - GTX1060 complete 6go (normal 6go one for us) - GTX1060 cut down 6go (OEM) - GTX1060 lower frequency (OEM) - GTX1060 5go (asia) and this one Yes too many under this name 🙂 but if consumer found a nice GPU that fit his need, then why not?

If this is actually artificially cut down and if you can unlock it as a 1080, I might seriously consider getting this.

I think that Nvidia laser cuts extra cores to prevent people from unlocking them. Can someone confirm this?

What a strange thing to do. must have alot of leftovers or something.

I guess this is what you do with the stockpiled cpus you held back to inflate prices during the mining craze.

I guess they really did make too many 1080 gpu's for the miners if they are having to get rid of them this way.

Are you forgetting the 9Gbps GDDR5 version? I think the 1060 has the most SKU's in the history of any GPU.

Nvidia used the fact that 1060 is a popular card making many variations of it without giving it a subname like a "ti". They are all 1060's and thats a confusing to some (maybe done intentionally).
