After getting into VR, I can't help but see flat games as a relic of the past. They all look the same; 2D gun in middle of screen, move screen around with mouse, shoot.

Looks exactly like previous installments (graphics wise). What's new here one wonders?

I used to love Battlefield games. Always looked forward to the next installment. I put some very long hours in, but in the end the hackers killed it for me. Now I won't go near another one.

someone wrote this about BF2042
Played the play test today. Game looked worse than bf3 and the gun/gameplay felt like bf5. Many animations are missing. Blinking texts over dropped weapons. Destruction was exactly like BF3/4. There were bots on the server as well.

None of the candy will be switched on, not until they upload Hype vid #17, that's when they'll show-off how the game really looks.

Maybe I'm the odd one out, I buy BF and COD series for the SP campaigns, not into online gaming at all. So, hard pass on BF2042 since there's no SP campaign mode.

This isn't looking good. Sure its a craptastic 720p compressed to high hell youtube video but the map looks bare. The area around the building looks just like flat plain textures. Where is the debris? where are the barrels? crates? and other environmental decor? I also spotten some texture corruption near the end when he looks up towards the building a large black texture flickers in the sky.
Hopefully this is just a really early build of the game from a while ago because October isn't that far away. Safe to say I shall sit this one out and let others take the plunge first.

I wouldn't take anything in this video as proof of anything. It's a shit ass quality short vid of nothing in an alpha. Yet people are trying to compare it to fully released games, geez.

I like that they've not spent time on a campaign (that's how it was for the first few games that I loved). I'm thrilled to hear there are bots, as that was also a staple in the past. Used to be able to just run your own "MP" server and mess around with only bots and buddies. I'm mainly interested in the community content aspect and if you can just run a local server. If that doesn't deliver, I'll pass. Basically, I want the original, simple (1942/BF2) game format back. I don't have high hopes though.
The graphics, to me, are entirely secondary to the gameplay. I don't need it to look ultra realistic, I just need it to be endless fun.

Looks like level blocking geo, when is this game releasing?

Looks generic AF.
And I don't mean the visuals. Couldn't care less about those. Gameplay looks like something from 10 years ago. Shocking.

From what i've seen it looks like a BF4, which isn't necessary a bad thing, there's a whole new generation of FPS players which missed out on it.
What's irritating me is that they still haven't updated their procedural animation system for first person animations. Walk/running animations for instance are extremely generic.
There's free to play games with the same first person animation quality, i expect better from a AAA studio.
That's far below what Call of Duty:MW 2019 brought to the table on that point.
I have a hard time getting back to Battlefield since MW2019. The first person experience is on another level.
