It does not matter if it can be turned off via settings in app.
Why? Because of android gives it permission upon install/update therefore it can be misused against users will by FB or other parties who can manage.
Yes, those concerned may use: Xposed -> Xprivacy
But how many know&can do that as it requires rooted system.

Oh well i do have a fbook account but i dont have the fbook app in the smartphone, its just a useless and a annoying memory hog,
and even if you want to post something just open the fb website and post, its pretty much the same thing.
The fbook messenger app, now thats REALLY usefull and clean, pretty much the only usefull thing fbook has, it can even make voip calls on the fly.
unfortunally the fbook website chat sucks a bit, only someone with the fbook msg app will be able to get the voip call, unlike hangouts

I have Facebook because its a nice easy way to keep in contact with friends and family who have moved far away and you'd like to share pictures and video with them. Like my Son who lives on the other side of the US. I live in Wa and he lives in Florida. Nothing wrong with Facebook, it is what you make it. As for the App, who cares.. People are too paranoid these days. If someone wants to listen to what I do then go for it, I really don't give a shlt. Besides I seriously doubt anyone is going to be peeping on peoples conversations and sex life. The only people that should worry about this are criminals. Since the feature can be turned off, no one has to worry about anything.
