That's what happens when you start making overpriced bling. Haven't bought an EK product in over half a decade. The competition makes the same products that are better and cheaper.

Also doesn't help that water cooling hobby is in a decline. Air coolers are now good enough for 99.9% of people, even for small form factor PCs and such.

How do you have over 15 thousand posts on this forum and do not know who or what EK is? It's one of the seminal watercooling companies. Could easily be credited with making watercooling accessible to the masses alongside the likes of Swiftech, Koolance, Watercool and others.

Woah, didn't know. What is the reason? Did some drama happen between GN and G3D?

Never good when people loose their jobs, but I doubt EK going under will have any impact at all on the PC hobby. Others will fill the vacuum, if there even is one. I thought for a second EVGA's departure from the GPU market was going to be felt, but besides a bit of nostalgia feels it just faded away.

companies come and go, i remember 3DFX, BFG Tech, OCZ, and more all were once prominent (if not dominant) in the industry and they all fell from grace only to be remembered in nostaliga. I loved BFG though, still have my tshirt I got with my 8800GTX 🙂

Have never used watercooling... PS Also have never been in consoles subforums and in overclocking subforums here...

Haha that's fair enough, though I still find it astonishing you haven't heard of EK, even by pure accident or tangentially to some other discussion.

Never been in overclocking subforums? You never overclocked? That's fascinating! Re: EK, I've heard of them, but never saw the need for custom anything in my pc. Off the shelf components were doing fine for me. I guess that's the problem with these manufacturers, if you can even call them that; their target is very small part of community. Unless it is something "ultra-unique-gotta-have", sooner or later, they will go under. Hekk, look at evga. Arguably, they were much more essential in pc business.

It also didnt help when Arctic Cooling brought out their CPU AIO kits with crazy prices atm. I wondered if someone would go bust as a result. They're now on ver III, with offers until end May, the 420mm is only £71.60 in the UK and are serious kit ! You have to join the queue to get one though unless you pay more. I paid £110 in 2019 for the ver II, these are crackpot prices for ver III.

I paid £66 for the 360mm on launch day, I couldn't believe the price when I saw it and the benchmarks across the board were great too. It was a no brainer and I actually currently have an EK Dark Nucleous 360mm AIO. I am going to remove it soon and replace with the V3 Arctic also pairing it with my Noctua fans I have.

My first proper WC loop was Swiftech based, I think onto my first C2D and NV 7800GTX.

I went with Phanteks for myv6900xt, way better package in general. Higher quality throughout from the instructions to the pre cut pads. I only went with EK for my 4090 as Phanteks were out of blocks for the TUF and I was out the country before they got them back in.

I'm not buying it, anybody who has had anything to do with building a PC must have heard of EK. They feature on the G3D news pages regularly.

My first PC was a laptop which I ditched in 2010 and went to SandyBridge-E on x79 chipset, which eventually was upgraded to IviBridge-E (with the same motherboard and same Noctua cooler), which eventually was upgraded to KabiLake-E on x279 chipset (this time with Arctic cooler). Overall I have built only two rigs since 2010, all with air cooling (and I know a bunch of air cooling brands due to that), so why would I read articles about water cooling and memorize water cooling brands. PS Also I would be careful with "WC" abbreviation...

If you miss understood the WC, you probably don't know who EK are.

Would expect GamerNexus to blame water cooling customers for EK problems.
