RealNC:

They'll shut them down a couple years from now, just like they did with pretty much every studio they bought. Buy them, suck them dry, throw them in the trashcan.

Another one bites the dust...
Exactly my thoughts! Nice meeting you Respawn...

Kind of a dumb move. They had control and support from EA. They had a decent amount of respect for re-engineering the Source game engine, almost from scratch, and Titanfall was well designed gameplay. Their decision to sell does not make any sense other than a monetary one, for which I say is unnecessary, given the cred they had; they would have been able to make more than this paltry $455m. EA probably just got the bargain of the year.

RIP Respawn Entertainment

Maybe now they won't launch it at the same time as Battlefield so that more than 2 people buy it.

I wonder how safe the bet is that TitanFall 3 will have Microtransactions / Loot Creates and... EA'd to death.

After EA acquirers Ubisoft (many years ago). Ubisoft Was a great studio.
This never happened. Not sure why you think it happened, it most definitely never happened. At one point, EA owned just under 20% of the company, and is the highest they ever had ownership in the company. By no means is this "EA acquires Ubisoft"

So Titanfall 3 will have everybody favorite season pass, microtransactions and loot boxes. What a exciting time we live in.

EA sometimes reminds me of black holes, scientist are searching for those all over the universe but for a long time we have one in our neigbourhood.

They're selling their studio AGAIN...but holy crap, has it really been 7.5 years already?!? You'd think that after such a long period working with/for EA, the boundaries between the two (publisher/studio not Vince/Jason) must have faded a bit anyway.

Okay I was abit wrong.. but only a lil bit. Coz I used too strong words on EA here. I remember many news sites even guru3d bring me such type info. It was very long times ago. When EA get their share Ubi games start suck for me. That I remember.

It sucks that gaming is just big business now. I remember when games were actually creative and fun. Now all these companies do is look at the bottom line. So many great companies are gone or moved onto games that are just a cash grab. Command and Conquer..Gone. Battlezone... Gone. So many good games are not being made because of corporate greed. It would be nice if Raven made another heretic or hexen game off ID tech 6.. Look at the overwhelming popularity of the new Doom and Wolfenstein.. I mean, why not make one of those heretic/hexen games
Yup but the thing is for every d*ckish triple aye publisher acting like a massive dong their is 10 indies who are happy to step in and not only fill the quality and customer service aspect left behind they are also willing to try their hands at titles and game concepts that the big publishers believe are no longer money makers and the sad reality for the Triple Aye publishers is that it is starting to have an effect, I've spent more time this year playing early access indie games than I have Triple Aye titles.

All that press release positivity is a bunch of BS ! Spare me the over the top fake positivity lmao This was a cash grab plain and simple. Next we will see that they have decided to "move on" followed by them starting a new company. Execs at EA will all get fat bonuses and pats on the back for their " business sense", and Respawn will no longer exist at all after TF 3 fails and they dont understand why with its microtransactions etc haha Seen it a million times!

I agree with You all, for once;D RIP Titanfall and the studio behind it. EA is a cancer for devs and for us. But I remember those times when EA was actually good...~20 years ago...now it's just sad.

They did take 4 years to release their first game. Which, on one hand, i applaud them for taking their time, on the other hand, they didn't create a new engine (source), but they did modify it a bit....not sure that warranted 4 years.

EA purchased Respawn Entertainment, which is the studio behind games like Titanfall. It was a rather sizable transaction at a cool $455 million, with a requirement being a timely arrival of Titan... EA Acquires Titanfall studio Respawn Entertainment
Further in the news: "With the insistence that Titanfall 3 come out in a timely fashion, the studio announced the immediate release of Titanfall 3 to the surprise of all. The voiced concerns that the only part of the program that works is the splash screen were waved away by EA, saying that patches to address any technical issues would be forthcoming..."

Yep, EA managers have just enough skills to sucks victims blood until it dies. They have no choice not to buy, because core of the company is rotten and would drop in value otherwise. It's like royalty title give away scam to famous and successful people, which in the essence required to keep their own titles worth something by the association.
...We’re working with a heavily modified version of the Source engine...
