I knew it. 😀 There is no nVidia WHQL driver release with out a hotfix these days. Since I don't have a g-sync setup it doesn't affect me anyway. So what are you bets? Is there gonna be hotfix for a hotfix? 😀 But seriously it makes me wonder how those bugs still slip through release cycle. In case like this developer should add a test that covers this issue for future releases.
As long as they fix those bugs I'm happy.

LOL and their radeon overlay is excellent and basically makes MSI AB and RTSS obsolete.
Yes good feature when it worked, very buggy. Coming for a AMD card myself i find the Nvidia control panel to be more stable.

You propose that they'd stop releasing new drivers with bugfixes?
fOrTy_7:

Actually it's very intuitive, and the guy was referring to micro-stuttering which is different from stuttering itself, hence he used term microlag.
What's intuitive? People tend to misuse the term "microstuttering" often enough for it to somewhat loose its meaning these days. And I have no idea how a lag can even be "micro".

I didn't propose anything, it was rather a joke. If I would propose anything, I would suggest nVidia to improve theri Quality Assurance to make sure that generic bug like the one fixed in this hotfix, that is not tied to any specific game was caught as regression during the developent cycle and fixed before mayor release. Intead we have same generic bugs reappearing every few releases.

Yeah, we all know that you were born knowing everything and you visit guru3d forums to educate us all. Please do explain then.

So you do propose for them to stop releasing drivers with bugfixes then and instead of that wait for the next "major release" (whatever that means for a release which is 0.00001 version away from the hotfix).

Why would I explain something that other person is trying to say? It's his job, not mine. Note though that the term "microstuttering" was essentially tied to AFR rendering when it was introduced and what people talk about right now using this term is just usual stuttering in 99% of the cases. And I don't know what is "microlag", sorry.

Whilst hotfix drivers are some what of a meme, in development it is not uncommon for there to be patches, updates etc. I welcome hotfixes as they obviously fix bugs or security flaws etc

Good driver for me, all smooth now.

I thought G-sync stuttering was fixed at first but nope it happened again today. Sometimes launching the game again will fix it or just disable it from nv control panel.

Sometimes I get FPS drop/stutter from Gsync, the only solution that works is alt-tab back and forth. Sad really that Gsync costs price premium and they still haven't fixed it. I hope next Vega delivers, so I can ditch towards a Freesync display.

The sad thing is not that it doesn't work. It's that it makes it worse than not having a G-sync monitor. Its its only purpose... Have had this monitor for 30 months and easily half of that time was spent with Gsync issues.

I have a gsync monitor and this sounds like pure hyperbole... Even this issue was a minor stutter in windowed mode, you must have other issues bud.

That gets fixed depending on driver version? Don't know...

We all can agree to disagree, but compared to say summer 2017 - Overall Gsync experience is Better. I just hope the iron out all the issues soon.

I still haven't updated to Windows 10 1803. Maybe that's why I never had any issues with g-sync yet. I even postponed the 1709 update until a couple months ago. I only did it when MS basically had a gun come out of the monitor, telling me "update now, or else" 😛 (Meaning no more Windows Updates if I don't install 1709.) I intend to do the same with 1803. These updates just seem to create problems for people left and right.

Well, I'm sitting on LTSB, which is 1607. Haven't had those issues people report with massive constant stutter on latest builds, but what I have now and then is super lag/fps drop when switching windows or launching a game. An easy fix is to alt-tab in and out. Other than that all is smooth. However, around 1 year ago it was much worse in my opinion as those issues were also common during the Fullscreen + Windowed option, where some windows on a desktop would lag. This they fixed, thank god.

no stuttering here on 1803, at least not the few games I run (mainly BF4, BF1 etc). I don't run Gsync or Vsync so maybe that has something to do. To be honest I can't tell a difference the last yr or two with my GTX970, all runs about the same.

Conversation was in specific about Gsync and stutter issues it causes.

Got ya and one of many reasons I never got a Gsync monitor, too many reported issues along with price plus I can't be bothered by Vsync anyway.

Gsync works perfectly fine, has some hiccups here and there. For me, this technology is essential as its benefits far outweigh the drawbacks. But then again as you point out, for a price premium you should expect 0 issues like that over such a prolonged period of time. But then again, companies like Apple get away with it, so do many others.
