This screams as TERRIBLE PC port. This game on consoles is 1080p and 60fps. It means it should run on toasters if the port was even barely competent. The fact that you get parity at 1080p with a PS4 only with a 970 speaks volumes about the ****ty quality of this port. Just stay away if that's the case.

It doesn't have to say anything, recommended spec these days means running all maximum settings at a playable framerate. 1080p/60fps is easily achievable by running it on lowest settings. Resolution isn't everything as per quality.

Or they're just trying to standardize gameplay for people. The greatest thing about the old Doom and Quake games, everyone could run them no issue. They're targeting that still with the new Doom. This is a warning for everyone as well, this topic was not created to bash the game, ID, Bethesda, or consoles. Do not bring that here. You have been warned.

There have been quite a lot of bad ports lately. Noticing for example how the minimum requirements went higher, is an indicator of a possibly rushed port. We can't even say that now? He simply used the word "TERRIBLE".

I agree there have been a lot of bad ports recently, but we can't judge anything now when we don't even have any benchmark of the released game. EDIT: Especially when in the alpha benchmark the 7950 outperforms the 970 and 780ti.

You're not helping your case just so you know.

But does that make an i5 any less playable...nope. When its the difference between 90fps or 110fps its irrelevant.
Since when do "system requirements" on any software meant that hardware below what they put in it won't be usable?

System requirements have changed lately. They used to be that minimum was really minimum, but these days things seem to be much more liberal. I would say that "minimum" is more like "XboxOne", and recommended is more like "60fps PS4".

I don't expect this game to be as ground-breaking as Doom 3 was at its time of release, but this does look like a pretty fun SP Campaign, and the MP looks like it could be worth the price paid as well. So long as a TI can run this game with mostly high/ultra settings, I'm a happy camper.

Those some spec right there. I remeber when I got doom 3 and it played like slide show on my 8400e and 6600gtx? or was it the card before that it ran like slide show, cause i remeber having to get new gpu for the game to run..

That sounds wrong. Doom 3 was first demoed on the unreleased Radeon 9700.

your right it wasnt my pc it was my uncles old AMD and he had really cheap low end gpu then

Look, if the beta was anything to go by it'll run fine at 1080p with a gtx960. gtx970 should play this fine.

Maybe the specs mean that is what you need to run at the highest settings at the specified resolution? Because they separated 720p and 1080p.. *shrugs*

Yup. I had my one and only RMA case of a faulty GPU back then. 6800 was pulling great frames, but I had to RMA it and use my Geforce 3 Ti 500 again. Which was capable of running the game in a low resolution (800x600) with decent detail. It was either lower resolutions or a flat Doom 3 with barely any lightening on that Gef 3 😛

Still no mention of Xfire/SLI? Damn, I'm not saying I am holding my breath....but I am holding my breath haha. Edit- I am glad they are raising the minimum and recommended. Too many people running the minimum system requirements and then wondering why it runs like garbage. Seems like companies are adding a little buffer for community backlash when it comes to performance. Seems smart to me.

hmm wonder if i should bother pumping some voltage thru my proc...im usually more gpu limited, but 4ghz+ would potentially help my minimum frames

What? 970 for 1080p? Another unoptimized s.it... -.-'

No they haven't, minimum was never "the real minimum". I've been playing on PC for over 20 years, half the time I played games where I was below the minimum requirements and they still played well enough.
