Typical rtx treatment. Its funny how 2080ti user above said who cares, then you know what time it is. 😀

Hope they do RTGI, would look good with all the fire/particles.

Ray tracing at in its current form is a flop. Market isn't ready, it's too expensive, and barely implemented. Cases where it's actually implemented are horrible. Realistically we will see good games with ray tracing 2-3 years from now on at 1440p.

Well that's a pretty big letdown, definitely doesn't help in some people wanting to upgrade to RTX just yet. EDIT: Wait a second, this isn't new news. They said in June 2019 that they wouldn't be using RTX at launch. But maybe they should have instead of spending time on a Stadia version. 😛 [youtube=13q9o7KVWKY]

Since the introduction of AA and AF filtration, all that 3D technology is "inventing" is new ways of extorting money from consumers (which is understandable - these guys are also consumers, they have to eat and drink, to buy clothes, to live somewhere...and it all has to be paid for):p

I'm the user, and I bought this card not for ray tracing but because I am an enthusiast and I want "king of the hill performance" when I upgrade and since rtx 2080Ti at that time was the best what else???

Good decision on the ID side, why loose precious time with something nobody can use properly at the moment.

This, and also, it's still a fast dx11 card. But as an owner of a RTX card I do share the sentiment of still thinking that RTX is a dead launch... way, way before it's time both in hardware capability (more of RT perf is needed, half my card never does anything at all), and in media supported (barely any of the announced games does have RT in the first 6 months after release).

I've said it before and I'll say it again: WHO CARES?

One more game with no reasoning or plot, one of the same old recipe. Remove RT elements for the RTX plebs, you get a useless hype before release. At least we are sure it will run smooth as butter.

Big issue with that is... that players are not going to replay same game 6 months later when it gets DXR. They will be playing other games at that time. (Especially when games are Singleplayer.) It is only good for developer as it attracts 2nd wave of sales.

This^^ RT is going to be important in the future but for now is just a gimmick.

My guess is that the next cards like 30xx and AMD counterparts will not bring raytracing to the masses neither, but the generation after that - so 2 years from now - WILL.

I'd like it but it's not important really, even the ray tracing patch for wolfenstein didn't make me play it again other than a level to see what it was like.

You should credit your source i.e. John Linneman at Digital Foundry.

Probably because it came out around 7 months after launch. RTX has been a pretty big scam, in my eyes. Lots of missed launches, lots of cancelled games. My 2080 is good on its own, which is the only reason I haven't been more upset, but RTX itself is a joke.

Its shame becouse wolfenstein youngblood actually showed what a good optimized engine like id tech 7 and a good dlss/rt implementation can do. Game was running even on a rtx2060 super at 1440p/60fps and thats impressive. I think they should've have supported it on launch.
