PRMinsterGR; you should post the Nvidia one for comparison.

What's going on with the foul language and hateful tone these days that a lot of people seem to take for granted? Let's keep thing line and friendly please okay ?

Idk man, 1060 thread in nvidia section is pretty quiet for the card that is selling so good. One would think there will be more posts and benchmarks. Either way i would recommend 6GB ver while this 3GB should be avoided.
Dude that really is a simple answer. The only new AMD card is the 480 and its owner thread is only about 15 pages with little action other than people saying they can't find one. The 1060 is one of four new cards from Nvidia and the weakest of the bunch. The owners thread is not going to be large here because most users on this site tend to buy higher end thus the 1070 and 1080 threads ar going very strong. Both the 1060 and 480 are selling out of the stock that hits the shelves.

it all does seem a touch more aggressive as of late but imo i think this will perform more like a 980gtx and RX480 the 3gig 'limit' is still huge at popular 1920x1080 res

I need 4gb of memory for my favorite game to run anyway near as good as i want it so 3gb is not an option, maybe i should go with a silly 470 instead, probably not, because of crappy drivers and bad ue4 support, but who knows...

Is it me or is AMD done? I mean between nvidia and Intel, bitch slapping has been taking place. How long has it been since AMD turned a profit?
hmmm... last month if i remember 🙂 but it's true that they are attacked on both side.

Should make OEMs happy.***129297;

Am I the only one unhappy with Nvidia releasing a cut-down part under the same name as the fully enabled one? This is unprecedented isn't it, at least in the "proper" gaming card category. We had 3 different versions of the GT 730, based on different GPUs, which was bad. I don't like this precedent.
not so...260GTX (normal one and with more shader one), there was 2 gen of chip in the 650 (depending if OEM or retail one), same with 740 (as 650 in desguise) and 750Ti (they renamed it 745ti on late oem version) there was 2 titans on 1st lauch (before they call the full second one "black" :banana:) and i won't talk about AMD who do the same too

AMD did it with the 270 iirc it could have up to 1280 processors.

actually this exact situation is quite unique, as far as I can remember

Pretty much this. Both 1070 and 1080 threads have a lot more pages than the 480 thread. 1060 is one of 4 new Nvidia cards and most Nvidia guys on here already have a 1060 equivalent or better card.

Pretty sure I saw some 270's (not many) with less than 1280 stream processors. But yes this exact situation is unique. The short and long of it is avoid the 3GB version. On a side note isn't the 4GB 480 using slower VRAM?

Being irrational over every little thing that Nvidia does is TIRING. GET OVER IT.
If you're lumping me in with the "AMD fanbase" please don't. I don't think AMD should have released the 4GB 480s with lower memory clocks either, and I said so in my post.
It's pretty simple. The 1060 3GB card exists for people not really into gaming but for some MMO's or DOTA 2 or something. It works perfectly fine for those people. And it's pretty obvious the price difference is going to immediately send downgrade vibes to anyone with half a brain. That is exactly what I was saying.
But this is my point exactly, if it's a different card for a different market, why wouldn't you give it a different name? FWIW I think the 1060 3GB is actually still a solid gaming card and overkill for esports/MMO gaming, a 460 and later entry level Nvidia cards would be better suited there. But in any case... IMHO if a 480 8GB or 1060 6GB can achieve x fps in a game while using <50% VRAM, then it's half VRAM sibling should achieve the identical performance. And a 480 or 1060 (or whatever) should contain a single GPU across the product line. Sell factory OC models, others with more or less VRAM, but keep the GPU the same. That way people can look at benchmarks and have a good degree of confidence that what they see is what they'll get. They can check VRAM usage, clock speeds (for OC'd units) and have a pretty good idea of where competing products will fit. That's the way it's almost always been. I'd like it to stay that way. Now you might disagree with my perspective and that's fine. But dropping F bombs, all caps and calling me an irrational AMD fan seems a little over the top.

the chinese mention site says the 1050 will be out in october at 150$ and 950 will be down to 120$, the 950 already outperforms the 460 by quite a bit
