They should've called it gtx 1050.

Oh look, its a rebranded GTX 780

Is it me or is AMD done? I mean between nvidia and Intel, bitch slapping has been taking place. How long has it been since AMD turned a profit? How sustainable is that? Maybe they are too big to fail. After all, they are the ONLY competitor. Hmmm....

Yeah, AMD is done. This card will give them a final blow.

Rebrand means the same chip with a different name... How is this a GTX 780? :stewpid:

The 6gb models are selling like hotcakes. I was lucky enough to nab one and for the price and performance, they are a steal.

Idk man, 1060 thread in nvidia section is pretty quiet for the card that is selling so good. One would think there will be more posts and benchmarks. Either way i would recommend 6GB ver while this 3GB should be avoided.

Shouldn't have been any cuts except memory. Not impressed.

How much lower can the 1050 go? h.265 on-teh-card for madVR could easly mean they can get away with cutting it way down and still sell it as an upgrade to mere GTX 650Tis …

It's more like a competitor to 4gb 480 that can be found at times for similar price... And 470 can be found for 180$ so yeah.

The GTX 1050 is likely to use the GP107 or GP106 chip. It is possible it may be on the 14nm process from Samsung.
According to South Korean newspaper Chosun Biz, Samsung has secured a contract manufacturing order to make NVIDIA's next-gen GPUs. Chosun Biz said that Samsung will make the next-gen GPUs using its 14nm process before the end of the year, based on the Pascal architecture.

3GB, meh...that will fall short in less than 6 months.

Oh look, its a rebranded GTX 780
It's a Pascal chip, not a Kepler chip so not a rebrand.

Take a look at 780 specs and realize how stupid is what you say.

It is already fall short. I have 3GB vram GPU and its sad having to reduce texture quality in most new games.

Come on man the internet is at your fingertips. EDIT: Oh hell I should have known you were an AMD fanboy. Now why would someone who doesn't have a 1060 be paying attention to them? Unless they were of course someone who did reviews or were going to specifically buy one. Why even open your trap.. The card I bought from newegg "today" is now sold out "today". http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127963 Also the tracker shows they are selling out on many websites. Man, I love this tracker. http://www.nowinstock.net/computers/videocards/nvidia/gtx1060/

Am I the only one unhappy with Nvidia releasing a cut-down part under the same name as the fully enabled one? This is unprecedented isn't it, at least in the "proper" gaming card category. We had 3 different versions of the GT 730, based on different GPUs, which was bad. I don't like this precedent. Frankly I thought it was bad enough that AMD released the 4GB 480s with different memory clocks to the 8GB versions. But in the long run most people will be buying aftermarket cards with different clocks anyway... but still, bad enough. 2 different 1060s, one fully enabled, one not... I don't like it at all. 1060ti & 1060, would be fine, 1060 & 1050/1050ti... no problem. But a card with the same name should have the same GPU with the same resources, otherwise you're just confusing and potentially misleading people, whether that's the intention or not.

Not unprecedented, no. I has a Radeon card before the one i have now, and it came with 1GB of RAM and it was the OC version. Looked online for other cards and there are card with the same name and 2GB of RAM. In fact the "1GB version" on my card is just a sticker on the box, probably right over where it says 2GB.
