4070TiS at $800 looks very compelling. Makes me wonder what the performance is like though. Could it be that it's not much faster than the predecessor? I'm curious what the 4080S is going to be like, because while at $1000 it's too much for me personally, given enough uplift it might prove to be the real winner of this refresh. Very much looking forward to your reviews.

I'd like to build a new rig. Still got my 1080Ti. I can't bring myself to pay any of these prices though. They are so insultingly expensive it blows my mind every time I bother to look. I just won't do it for any of these 40 series cards.

The worst part is that we get railed by VAT. An $800 card is in reality a $984 card here and that seriously changes its value proposition. Add to that the fact that non-eurozone countries usually get shafted on currency conversion by the distributors and you end up with an $800 card costing above $1000.

I heard of the ASUS tax, but this is wild. It seems to me it's just retailers trying to artificially inflate prices again. Give it a month or two of them holding the bag and they'll be back to something more reasonable.

Still to expensive, all those Super versions.
The 4070Ti Super seems to be the best of the bunch, but here in Portugal is going to be around 1.000€, just too much.
And for this price, i`de rather get the 7900XTX, that can be already bought at 1.000€!...

Arguably best choice for a high end gpu, 7900xt. You can order one here for 737Eur for the reference or Sapphire Pulse for 750Eur. It costs less than a 4070ti non super.

Exchange rates depend on both currencies in the trade, at the moment the Euro and the USD are weaker against the GBP than 12 months ago.
New cards prices will still be pricey but that will be supply and demand and just a smidge of scalping.

Yeah, I've seen the Asrock 7900XTX here for €985. At that price I can't imagine anyone getting a 4070TiS. That'd be just dumb.
