This is what happens when you bite the hand that feeds you.

They're in EA's bed aren't they? Doubt they will be in any danger other than being further under their sheets when EA decides to aquire them completely.

So with... hold on I need both hands to count here... 2... 3... add the 5... plus 3...
...so yeah, with exactly zero good games why do I care what happens to Crytek. Crysis was a thing and it was a mind bendingly average thing beneath all the fancy graphics which some how managed to become even more average with each and every sequel.

Would be shame but none of their games were good, not even crysis 1. it was one of the worst game i ever played, just a GPU benchmark and that all.

I thought the original Crysis was an excellent game but just like with Far Cry, the ensuing sequels have not met the same standards.

They not long signed up to Mantle either.

I didn't mind Crysis 1 or Warhead the other 2 are pretty boring. I'm sure EA will buy them out and sack the employees
Time for the yearly Crysis game at £59.99 each 😛uke2:

Sad news. For me, Crytek have done 2 of the best FPS so far (Far Cry1 and Crysis1) but they went downhill the moment they deserted to the consoles camp.
It´s funny, they started making games for consoles because they said that was the only way to grow and to survive in the long term and now they face bankruptcy because of the same consoles...
Irony is a bitch!...

It is a shame because they are talented people, for a game like Crysis 1 to come out in 2007 and to even run on machines back then was a feat in it self. Sure performance was around the 30fps more for most people at highest settings but still nothing and I mean NOTHING had looked so real and go good before it.
But it was such a massive flop sales wise (most people just pirated the game) that they seriously needed cash and quickly. This is why they focused on consoles for the sequel and sold out to EA who brought a lot of their shares after Crysis 1 came out.
Crysis 2 did well and they were in the green again, then came Crysis 3 and it was such a big pile of poo that I believe that that game alone probably put them in the red. It was just Crysis 2 with a few tweaks and some terrible level design and that story... omfg it was bad!
I also believe this is why the F2P shooter Warface was delayed for so long because of cash flow and I think that game has made them next to no money as its pretty dead.
Now Ryse... and OMFG what a shambles, apart from some "DECENT" graphics, I have seen it in motion my self on a 55" plasma and it really is nothing special at all. Combat is boring, repetitive, and the story again is very weak.
It just cries desperation when they turn to consoles to save them... it doesn't work, they turn to free to play... it doesn't work... they sign an exclusive deal on consoles... it doesn't work.... They release their engine for cheap (£6.99 on steam).... no one cares and it doesn't work....
They really need to hire some good writers and level designers, or their next game... (if there is one) is doomed before it is even out!

CPC RedDawn, i was under the impression that the first Crysis was a successful game in financial terms. If i´m not mistaken they sold more than 3 million copies of Crysis 1 and Crysis Warhead. The problem is that this success alerted the sharkes (EA) and those sharkes invested on Crytek and force them to turn to consoles, hoping to capitalize on the success of the original Crysis and turning it into a franchise like COD... And then thing went like we know...
I´m right or wrong on this aspect???

Blame Mike Read.
He's a man who fluked his way into the games industry and is akin to a Hollywood studio executive who was born with sunglasses on.
He failed upwards, some people do; now he's bought down an entire company due to mismanagement.
No doubt he'll survive somehow, even though he has no discernible talent.

Meh, these guys lost it after Crysis 1. C2 i only played because of Maldo as at the time i was a straight GFX whore. C3 was not only extremely avg looking but also extremely boring. I can happily go back and skirmish with the NKs in C1, theres just so many possible outcome to every encounter for the majority of missions.
These guys have done nothing but follow trends and its come back to bite them in the arse and tbh, they desrve it. I feel for the devs that have to take orders from the clowns and hope nothing but the best for them going forward, but Yuri and co can piss of back to the indie scene and work their way back up to respectability.
That award goes to C3. C3 is the perfect example of a tech demo, though imo an ugly one.

Then what about Homefront 2?

I loved the original Crysis. It had some great ideas and it was not so linear, but Crysis 2 & 3 were... well - bad... didn't even finish the last one. Then there was the statement, that all games after the last Crysis were going to be F2P, then there was Warface, which was not the great success, which they expected. It's a shame 🙁

While I'm not a big fan of Crysis 2 and 3, I loved the first game and it would be pretty sad news to close any chance of future games... that being said, I don't think Crytek cared much for PC anymore, so I'm not sure it's THAT big of a loss.
