None of the leaks specify DDR4 or DDR5.

We are cpubound even i 3440x1440 in Battlefield 2042 beta now, so we need more cpupower. Testet both 11900k and 5950x with 3090 1000w bios. There is no doubt we need better singlecore performance.
I see, using 1440p and don't need hundreds of fps, so guess I'm fine for a while.

1080p and can't go over 120fps with mesh at ultra... I want more than 144fps on my 3440x1440 monitor. Right now, it's almost the same fps in 3440x1440 and 1080p LOL. Cpubound like crazy with 5950x and 3866c14 "max" tweaked 🙄

Sounds to me like that's a problem with BF2042 rather than the hardware. Who in their right mind designs a CPU bound game in 2021?

I wonder what AMD is thinking about all those leaks... I do believe Alder Lake will beat Zen 3 is ST and on some point MT otherwise there is no reason to release this new(Finally) Gen.
We have to wait until the release. The MT perf is pathetic which is making me to question the ST results. This is a 8+8 20 thread CPU with score 9423. A 3900X out of the box does 8300 and barely gets over 4.4Ghz all core. A 5900X is around 9770 out of the box too without activating PBO etc. I won't be surprised if CPUZ has a bug with the big-small cores scewing the numbers. Also CPUZ is unreliable. Lets not forget the changes to the calculation back in 2017 to lower the AMD scores for the benchmark!!!!!

Zen3+ if it delivers as an answer I just might buy that for my setup as I would need only a processor. This does look pretty nice.

Question is though, do we need that additional performance? Probably not. I do like the idea of them slower cores for low priority tasks too.
I do not ever want innovation to stagnate. Saying we don't need the performance is short sided. While I'm pulling for AMD I want Intel back in front and then AMD leapfrogging them.

I meant it as in needing that new CPU for our machines, innovation won't stagnate because I keep my current CPU for a bit longer, lol. We didn't see the proper reviews yet either, so most of it is just speculation for now.

Some better cooling needed! (his cooler must be crap though, DH15 keeps 220W at 80C) Consumption wise is as expected since it's an AVX2 bench. My 9900K goes to 220W too in the same test.

IIRC, that person said in chinese that he was using a "tower cooler" without a mounting mechanism (because it didn't fit 1700). Looks pretty good to me in that case.

alderlake is only rated for ddr5-4800 and the fastest modules you'll be able to buy at launch are going to be less than 6400mt/s , the latencies are also much higher than the ddr4 available at the similar speeds right now, you aren't gonna see much difference between high speed ddr 4 and ddr5 ,unless the workload is bandwidth bound.

Just check how many dx11 games you have. Just finished days gone, cpu limited dx11 🙂. I think more than half of new titles are cpu limited at some point .

I really hope that is true, but in either way... 260W is just too much for a CPU. Even my GPU consumes less. If it was 160W as peak consumption, I'd say fine... but 260W is a no-go for me.
That's what it said in the chinese translation. He couldn't mount it because air coolers require a socket 1700 backplate and mount and won't mount properly on 1151 hardware even for boards that might come with the holes for 1151, the z-height is different, so he left it floating without a mounting kit (I guess this was horizontal open bench). With water coolers, you can just use nuts and bolts and mount stuff.
