It's not bribes, in the business server market reputation is incredibly important. It's a brave decision to move to a different (and still not proven in the wild) platform. For a company like Cloudflare server outages would be a death knell, so they tend to stick with Intel even if it's not necessarily the "best" solution.

Exactly, if something happens after the servers switch, all management will point fingers at AMD machines and blame for the change. If something happens with Intel, "it couldn't be helped... ordinary human error...." Takes lots of courage to overcome the change.

The original blog - Gen X: Intel Not Inside https://blog.cloudflare.com/cloudflares-gen-x-servers-for-an-accelerated-future/ They have,Cloudflare,2x24cores Intel Xeon dual-socket,which is not really power efficient tech in these days vs AMD Epyc 48(96) cores single socket. And,ofc, AMD platform is more affordable,efficent and better perf per watt vs Intel "Goliath" Xeon platform.
