Redemption80:

Doom, Talos Principle, Serious Sam 3 and Ashes of the Singularity.
What about Doom? Its performance didn't impress you?

Yes, but i can't put that down to Vulkan when it was no better than an old api like OGL. I do not understand enthusiasm for Vulkan based anything that has currently been released, to date it appears to me that it's not just behind DX12, but possibly DX11 as well. Doom and Wolfenstein are 1080/60 console games, as is the DX12 Forza 7 and DX11 COD WW2 and those games all achieve high framerates for most people.

Odd how the Vega 64 lags even a 1070 at 1080p, but equals a 1080 at 2160p-- the higher the resolution, the better both Vegas perform...

More than likely driver related. When it comes to Vega, AMD still has a fair bit of optimizing and bug fixes.

Try the new Wolfenstein, it looks so good and performs amazing for how it looks. I like Vulkan because it means I don't need to install Windows 10 to use it xD

The enthusiasm is that you can run Vulkan games in any OS in opposition to DX12 that only works with W10! Nobody wants to be "tied" to a specific OS in order to use a specific API! That´s also the reason why the uptake of DX12 has been so slow. It´s the same reason why i despise G-Sync! Proprietary stuff is the cancer of PC gaming! Oh, and Doom looks and runs great on Vulkan, i can tell by experience. P.S. This is my 2000th post, so where´s my prize??? No need for something extravagant, a Nvidia GTX 1080Ti can do without any problem...

Only if the developer chooses to support the OS though, and last I checked neither Doom or Wolfenstein have Linux support. It's entirely possible that future Vulkan games only "officially" support W10 as well. That wasn't my point anyway, it was that based on current games Vulkan has yet to show it offers anything over DX11, If AMD had proper OGL support the Doom hype would pretty low. What's the point of a non MS api if the only good implementation of it is games that are only release in MS OS's. Anyway, this game looks like it's just low spec or well optimised, if it was DX12/Vulkan then people would be giving the credit to the api.

I understand this point but the same happens with DX12. Newer APIs don´t mean necessarily that games are going to look or perform better than using older APIs. So far all DX12 games also bring little to zero visual gains in the games that use it. So far DX12 biggest achievement is that it basically killed multi GPU... As for the Vulkan hype is due to the fact that is not tied in to any specific software, like DX12, and can be used with any OS. The moment you can only use Vulkan in W10, for example, is the moment that the Vulkan hype dies and people start to hate it as much as DX12...

I think I remember reading somewhere that all future Bethesda games will use Vulkan only... is this correct?
