I didn't even know non MS games would be on the
MS store.
Surprised it's this game as Activision has pretty much stuck with Steam for DRM for years now when it comes to COD.
You would imagine it would be be pretty barren with this version, suppose it doesn't hurt MS in the slightest since it's not their game.
If they could get X1 cross platform play working though, that would help, unlikely Activision would allow that though.

The only time I see that it is remotely feasible for anyone to buy a game on Windows store is when you have an Xbox one and PC, and the game actually supports the play anywhere function. Other than that, good old Steam will do just fine and be my preferred choice.

Does this have something to do with cheating on PC I wonder? I DID grab Gears 4 from the store and I haven't seen one cheater since the game came out. I also read somewhere in their forums that games that run through the APP cannot be hacked(yet lol), and that it is impossible to manipulate any game files that are ran through the app.(Maybe something to look into Hilbert?)
It could also be part of a plan to bridge the console(xb1) with the PC in COD the same way as they are gears. Right now they are testing crossplay for Gears 4 vs to allow PC and xb1 users to play in the same rooms. It was mentioned to help improve the number of players available on the PC while searching. Right now it is just for social unranked matches though. This info was released in the latest patch for Gears 4.
I know I'll be the black sheep in saying this. If M$ can eliminate cheating on the PC then I may buy all my games from there(if available), and as time goes on I would say more and more would as well. I'd rather play cheat free and not deal with aimbots, wall hacks, speed hacks, etc... Not one sign of this so far in Gears 4...

It will be interesting see if cheating is harder on the store version as that could be an incentive, but if there is no one playing that version then who would care.
I did just notice that the game is alot cheaper on the store, pretty much cdkey site prices for the standard edition and legacy editions and £16 cheaper for the digital deluxe version.
Bring it down a little more and i might be tempted for the campaign and MW Remastered.

Even if this is Activision's fault, I feel like Microsoft needs to try a hell of a lot harder if they want anyone to use their store. They should be taking steps to ensure their climate is not segregated from everyone else.
Of course, buying the latest CoD from the Windows Store is like buying a special edition Nickleback CD from Hot Topic.

I guess this thing uses XBL but for PC players only? It may have some MS influence in this decision.

I wonder how much MS certification proccess has added to this, might have been cheaper and simpler for Activision to simply keep both format's apart, then that way the steam version would not get held up because of the w10 patch, i doubt they would allow two different versions of the game to run at the same time over two different format's, assuming that has anything to do with it.
Of course Activision are being very sneaky by having the W10 versions at a lower price than the steam versions, do you think they knew something beforehand. lol

as expected, its down to 48$ on w10 store, simply put, they cant price the same game under UWP pathetic limitations and inconveniences same as on a competent platform like steam, you're just getting the same but worse, so they have to slash the price or drop it entirely
then we have the whole separation thing, two groups of the same platform(pc) cant play together you say? lol thats just the last nail in the coffin, kids on w10 sites are going ape sh!t on activision saying its entirely their fault, but ignoring the fact that the problem here is the windows store having a TINY TINY userbase, activision and steam are going business as usual all by themselves, its the w10 store that needs their help, because they have like 20 or 30 users total probably thanks to their aforementioned limitations, just look at quantum break, it runs at about 10fps higher on steam for nv cards
btw I wouldn't rule out steam having a role here, they probably aren't interested in having w10 store users meeting their userbase and by doing so helping it appear on par with steam's userbase

TBH, there's no point cutting the price. Just refund everyone and remove it from the store, it's the right thing to do.
