I have no doubt that the Vega will be a great card. The only criticism is, its about 6 months too late.

Fixed that for you.

I am afraid I might completely agree with Loophole here even though we pretty much ALL were rooting for AMD to get out of the gate on time.

I like how its not even out yet and people are acting like they personally have sampled and reviewed them.

I'm not trying to be a dick about it just being real. I waited for Vega at least I tried. I bought my 1080ti after the first benches of FE came in. I just didn't see 30% improvements across the board happening in 6 months.

Fine wine is all good. However, some times we just need the performance, like right now. I think it's been an ambitious time for AMD, but, their programmers/drivers teams are obviously struggling to get the best out of their new architectures, especially when it's both cpus and gpus on the table this year. Give them time, it'll be sorted and I'm sure Vega still has improvements to come over the next 3yrs+ as they better understand how to fully utilise their technology.

Next month review of RX Vega on Guru3D.. 😉
Hopefully, so the useless leaks and uneducated discussions can end. There is little use in discussing things we yet don't know, like the cards real performance and price. Guess what, they are probably the most important things....

Looks like our community is back on track. Almost everyone is: "I do not mean sh*tpost AMD, but here I do because it is AMD."

And we need to find out exactly what theyre doing with RX Vega and Infinity Fabric, and how well it works. Got a friend who likes to upgrade frequently who is going from a 4790k and 1070 to a 1800x or Threadripper and possibly a Vega, if the price and performance is right because of what going with all AMD could mean if they make good use of Infinity Fabric.

I personally think the Vega will be as fast if not faster than 1080Ti But, the HBM2 has been a bane in AMD's side and hopefully they can convert their system to a more common and cheaper GDDR5x/6 GeForce GTX 1080 May 27, 2016 GeForce GTX 1080 Ti March 10, 2017 Vega - August 2017 - That's a year later than 1080 - AMD we want you to succeed but come on!

A little wait and see on the Infinity fabric but reading between the lines of what AMD has said the Infinity fabric wont really be used in Vega. Its there for SOC's when the slap Vega cores with Zen cores together. The other thing that interests me more is when Navi lands I expect them to have multiple "Vega" cores tied together like they did with Zen for Ryzen. Vega has always looked like a stepping stone to Navi as Vega really doesn't need HBM2 or Infinity fabric but when Navi hits I think we will all say oh thats why they built Vega like that, IMHO.

It looks like another missed chance for AMD with Vega. Using much power and producing too much heat. Hope that I'm wrong about this.

even if inf. fabric can work with Vega i really can not see em slapping two of those together what it will be then ? 500~600 watt card ? :P

I meant using it for CPU to GPU communication, HSA, Crossfire etc. If they did a dual GPU card, id imagine that theyd do it similarly to Nvidia and lower clocks and TDP, but neither has made a dual GPU consumer card in ages.

I don't expect a dual GPU card until Navi lands, the 7nm process should really make that possible if all they do is shrink the current design with a few tweaks.

Lol - I think these same words were said about the Fury X.

Yeah, we should all be okay with no competition for 1070 and above for more than one year. Hooray AMD, good job! Maybe don't do it again next year. How can you honestly be ok with half the market (lineup-wise) having no competition?

You don't expect an honest and meaningful answer to that, do you? Even thought the answer will certainly not be an easy one, but one with many facettes.

If RX Vega delivers 1080+ performance at a price point between current 1070 and 1080, I'm in. I have a 1070 and will not pay the current price for 1080 or 1080ti. Because I simply don't actually need more than a 1070. But 1080+ with freesync 4k, that'll I'll buy. If AMD can do that, they won't have the performance crown, and online "enthusiasts" who argue about GPU performance crown, won't be happy, but many, many will.

From our perspective. The other side is the miners have been buying up the RX 480/580 and 470/570 stock in bulk. Those products have done really well for AMD, providing some much needed capital for them.
