The leak suggests that 2042 will have " the largest maps in Battlefield history, " made up of "Sectors," each roughly the scale of a Battlefield 3 map. These sectors would contain multiple points and cannot be recovered. once insured.
Sounds a lot like Operation (BF1) or Breakthrough (BF5) game mode

This seems really promising. Last BF i played was 3, this makes me curious. Hopefully it's optimized for Zen and Polaris+ this time

haha nice, when the previous article came back ages ago with the original screenshot leaks i even said it might be 2042 because it looked a bit futuristic, but not 2142, and not modern.

As long as it doesn't have jet packs, wall climbing, 20m sliding (or BF5 sliding which looked horrible and out of place) then I am fine with it. Also, it is only 20 years into the future, even BF4 was set 7 years into the future. So I'm pretty sure it will have a lot of current modern tech. The leaked trailer also had Abrams.

Yeah, and robot dogs... which is exactly the kinda bs i dont want. I want a present day BF game, with max level immersion - seeing robot dogs and the likes of it running across the battlefield is gonna be "slightly" immersion breaking for me...

Inb4 it get's ruined by cheaters again. If they rely on FairFight just as in BF1 or BFV this game will be flooded with cheaters with hardly any punishment at all. Ingame reports were useless.

They can't please everyone. People wanted a return to modern times for BF. 20 years into the future isn't that far, yet far enough to allow some artistic freedom for creative new weapons. I think it's perfect and would be exactly what I'm looking for. People wanted a sequel to 2142 so badly for so long and never got it. This would be a superb compromise while even paying homage to the 2142 name. It sounds great if this is what they do.

SOME people want a 2142 sequal - polls were clearly in favor of present day. But then again, dice ignored polls last time aswell, and went ahead with ww2 anyways.

It only takes so long, before there is always a plague of new cheaters in these games, it completely ruins them, BF4 was my last BF game because of that, couldn't care less about what was released after BF4. I just play good single-player story-driven games for now. Might give it a shot at one point, let's see. *Edit* Oh yes and erm, let's also see if we can get graphics hardware to run BF6 before 2042. 😀

Don't the US use robot dogs as a type of mobile sensor / surveillance on bases? I think I remember reading something about that a while ago.

For the cheater problem all they need to do is add proper community servers. BF3 and BF4 are still playable because of that. Yeah, some community servers might have badmins but I rather deal with them than blatant cheaters that don't get banned even 2 years of cheating. I have come across multiple such players in BF1.

It looks great but is not a smooth engine needed for first person shooters. I'm not sure how this franchise continues to have success after the last several releases. BFBC2 was the last title I liked. All the "leaks" for this release are done on purpose to help create game hype? DICE should get into the movie trailer business. This is what they do best. It sure hasn't been a title grounded in their roots. Let the hype pass, see what they actually release. How bad are the launch day bugs yada, yada, yada.
