It's a really good game now.

I remember when I bought new hardware for new Battlefield titles. That was long ago and probably won't ever happen again...

I play this game quite a bit and still wouldn't recommend anyone to upgrade for it. The graphics look dated and it performs worse than it should. Also, just look at the all of the comparison videos of the BF3 Portal weapons vs their original counterparts. It's hilariously bad. Anyway, I still manage to find enjoyment out of it when I'm taking a break from MW2/MW3.

Yep, remember quite fondly playing bf 1942, vietnam and even bfbc2 on intel pentium 4 then upgrading my old pc with a complete new one so I could play bad company 2, then my old core 2 duo to i5 3570k just to play battlefield 3 smoothly after the alpha and then upgrading the i5 3570k to i7 6700k just to play bf1 smoothly and after than upgrading from i7 6700k to i9 9900ks just to play bfV smoothly. Good times. Also had awesome time playing battlefield hardline, one of the best battlefield games for me.

BF2042 is now a decent shooter but not the most fun BF title i've played. It would be like 5th for me as BF titles go. Seriously though if BattleBit can have real level destruction how come the latest BF game can't? I mean we've had level destruction since Red Faction in 2001 and that was for PS2 before i ever got into PC gaming. My steam account dates back to 2003 so i must of got a Gaming PC not long after that.
