Although there is no way I'm buying this (way too expensive for features I don't really care about), I do actually like having a 43" display on my desk. It's kinda stupid for anything productive but it is great for media. Makes you feel much more immersed in the content.

I have a 4K 43 inch monitor (bdm4350) and can confirm that this is the right size if you want both 4K and no scaling. Anything smaller and you will need 125%/150% to comfortably read native fonts.

I'm personally doubting what I'm going to get next as a PC display. For a few years I had : 28" 30-60Hz G-Sync 4K Monitor 55" 60Hz 4K TV Recently I switched my PC monitor and now I have: 27" 48-144Hz VRR 1440P Monitor (IPS) 55" 60Hz 4K TV And I never use my 4K TV for gaming, even if I'm playing a joystick game like MHW. I'm more comfortable at 27" 1440p 28" 4K is a bit of a waste, probably 32" is a nice spot for 4K monitor. (Except for text/reading tasks, for text, any 4K 13-32" monitor will always give you a nice PPI detail).

Really nice monitor (and review of course), thanks Hilbert. I have the older "little brother" PG27UQ and I'd like to know if there really is no fan in PG43UQ and if PG43UQ uses FALD to achieve the high brightness. Thanks again

This is a good edge-lit HDR1000 monitor. The problem with it is that it's way too expensive. I can find now where I live the 55inch LG C9 Oled at around 1100 euro VAT included. The problem is the size though. The CX48 inch OLED soon to be released will also be around 1500 euros, so the price for this one is just unrealistic. For 900-1000 euro, it might be a good buy, even though edge-lit HDR is really not "real" HDR.

My thoughts exactly , for a DESKTOP ... this "monitor/tv" is to much . I don't think I can get use to it. for not I have a 24'... that is getting really small for my taste. upgrade path is there ... 27 , 32 ... but defenetlly I will not go for 43 or wide monitor. call me old school but that is just my taste

I scale up the Win10 fonts in 4k to 175% for my 32" BenQ 3270U--and they look perfectly fine--not a trace of blurriness or any other artifacts. It's definitely not a negative, I'm glad to say. What I like about the 32" 4K res is that individual pixels are not visible--you can't see them, even a nose-length away from the screen...;) Dot pitch (pixel pitch these days) is a bit higher than .18. Dot pitch here @ 43" is .245--which is a good bit higher, but not prohibitively so. With this monitor, 3-6 feet from the user's eyes, I doubt any pixels would be visible. This is a nice monitor, but I prefer to place my monitor about 18" from my eyes--fills up my visual field--this one is too big, imo. It's got nice features, certainly--although I'm still not sold on HDR. Some people say that at 1000 nits the brightness drowns out many of the other colors, and lots of HDR screen shots look washed out, to me. It's like someone overlays a monochrome filter on top of the normal SDR imagery. The limited HDR I can do now is much less nice than SDR--in which the colors just pop, comparatively. 5700XT 50th Ann Ed. I'm not sure if HDR is ever going to become mainstream in gaming.

I own a Samsung UE55HU8290 for 5 1/4 years right now & I'm more than happy with it. 0.8m² with 100DPI is a charm... Important is to have a proper backlight & yes it has no gsync, HDR, whatsoever, but it cost me 1.2 grand back then & I really like it to sit 80-100cm away from the screen & watch 4K60fps youtube-footage. Yes there's screentearing when gaming, but I lost the love to 3D-FPS or games @all and mainly use it for Ableton & office-duties - so it's totally fine for me. But when it dies, this one will be the successor... and it's not that exensive in my eyes considering what this one delivers (1000nits with HDR - you'll need a welding mask to not loose sight after an explosion straight in front of you @1m distance xD). :-)

For me 40" is the sweet spot in size for desktop usage. Of course that was not the case when I first got it some 3 years ago (Samsung ku7000), it just seemed too big compared to the 27" before it on my desk. The factors that can make large size displays seem unwieldy up close are easily remedied with a few tricks. Most importantly, DO NOT put it on the desktop, it takes up too much space! Best is to wall mount it just above the desktop and pull your desk back a few inches. Secondly, if you are up close, browsers, windows, apps, etc, do not have to be full screen. That was what initially annoyed me about mine when first using it. You can resize everything to your comfort level and it becomes near perfect. If Hilbert did indeed put that 43 incher directly on the desk, then I can understand how he was not too keen on desktop usage. But as long as you have the option of wall mounting which gives you that extra flexibility in distancing, you are in for one hell of a treat in gaming, movie immersion, as well as productivity. There is no way in hell I would go back to anything less than 40" 4k now.

@anyone so what else would you get (size wise) if you dont care about ultra wide and want something bigger than 32? exactly. im now running a 43 UHD screen @2ft distance so i dont see pixels (mounted on arm like i did with 32@QHD), and its NOT in my face (unless im less than 2ft away, but thats not the screens fault, so..), nor is it only useful for "gaming a sim". and it doesnt need a 2080ti, as last time i checked games can be set/run at lower res, and it will not change the res of the screen (which is still UHD), and for some games it was actually "counterproductive" e.g. running Siege@UHD showed how crappy/flat most textures are (especially vegetation), and went back to run it in QHD. the only downside getting a tv (vs true moni), is that it wont turn on/off with pc, and not having non-hdmi for video connection (win likes to switch from my SC/2.1 to the tv speakers).

I've been gaming on a 49" LG panel, with low latency mode it's personally my favorite setup I've done for a display. The HDR is great on it(of course Windows HDR is kind of bad, but in game and media it's amazing), I aim for 1440p 60 or 4k60 depending on the title so for me it's more than enough, and I thought I would have trouble getting used to how close I am but I really haven't had any issues with that. Probably not the best for my eyes though 😀 https://scontent-ort2-2.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/78608235_10159392839069569_2538742627361095680_o.jpg?_nc_cat=105&_nc_sid=110474&_nc_ohc=uOhAmU7HDdAAX-Wi9jA&_nc_ht=scontent-ort2-2.xx&oh=8193f5b33b77746430bf6f6ea4db5305&oe=5EAF0533

I use a 43" as my main productivity monitor. Also have two 24" on a vertical tree next to it. 43 incher took me a day to get used to, but after that I was hooked. I split the 43 down the middle with window snapping, and it's like having two portrait monitors side by side, but with a wider horizontal viewing area. Productivity heaven.

I have the amazing MG278Q, man that was a great buy in 2016 that turned into a Gsync monitor in 2019. But i want a bigger monitor, preferably 43 or 49 but can't find any good one with 1440p 144hz that is not TN.

Once you go big ,no going back

As stated, this is not a monitor to work on sitting at your desk.
It's the perfect size having on your desk, lenght is not more than a 34" ultra wide, if being used to that but missing the height it's a perfect replacement tbh.

@moab600 1440p makes no sense on anything past 32, unless of course you sit at the other side of the room.

Not so. The 43" display is much bigger than 34" UWs, in both width and height. 43" a bit unwieldy if set on a desktop, but should be great if mounted above it.
