On one hand, I hope R&D and production costs justifies this product, but if it does, that would mean DDR5 will be very hard to get or/and DDR5 costs will be out of control. Both cases seem to point to a very sad state of supply and demand. I hope when Zen4 comes out, DDR5 will become more available, more mainstream with normal prices.

Expensive? Limited availability? Smells like RDRAM.

Considering the JEDEC speed is 4800mhz for DDR5, if you're running 4x DDR5 sticks at 4400mhz then you're underclocking your sticks. XMP is technically overclocking, so if you turned that on with DDR5 you'd be trying to go higher than the JEDEC speed of 4800mhz.
It's VERY different running 2x DDR5 VS 4x DDR5 i therm of speed. Same on DDR 5 🙂 It's a reason you won't see 4x 4600 or 4x 4800mhz ddr4 for sale....

GTA VC style: "somebody do something!" At least Asus is trying and with statements that DDR5 will be in scarce availability this whole new year because of component crisis maybe it is worth it....other big motherboard manufacturers should jump this wagon and we will (possibly) have a good solution.

Yup which is why we need Quad Channel HEDT Alder Lake-X. No more gimped PCI-E 5.0 lanes (when more than one x16 slot is occupied) or gimped RAM speeds (when more than 2 RAM slots are populated)

I have still my 4.5 years old 7980xe x299 for a reason 🙂 For gaming the 12900k and 6000c30 tweaked DDR5 is the best 🙂
