Odd launch considering most people at the time is either already decided to buy RTX 30 series GPU or just waiting for big Navi. Nonetheless I´m already noticing some price drops in AMD gpu of around 70-100 bucks in my country, a very welcome side effect.

I'm sure its a great card in its own right, but after the last couple of days this feels a little underwhelming. We need RDNA 2.

If the manufacturer has a stockpile of GPU chips lying around, it's better to try to sell them than to scrap them. I imagine new orders are kind of low already, though, unless AMD is planning to rebrand the 5700(X) chip for a lesser card in the 6000 series (or whatever it's going to be). The general market situation would depend on the release of the 3060 as well, however. If Nvidia is receiving less chips from Samsung than they would like, they might not be in a hurry with it. In a way it's more stylish to postpone a release than have a paper release, with next to nobody actually being able to buy a product.

In the UK, retailers are STILL trying to sell these and 20 series Nvidia cards @ full price, I mean REALLY ? whose going to buy one now @ original pricing ?

Until AMD or Nvidia give kick backs to allow them to lower the price, they can't really lower them, not without taking a loss, and no company wants to take a loss. They will wait until the companies give kick backs (AMD/Nvidia or AIB) or request a send-back order from the AIBs

Yeah, the same here. It's pretty funny to have a look at the prices when some of the 3080 and 3090 models are already listed. Like who would pay 1300 euros for a 2080 Ti at this point when 3080 is well below 1000 euros and the "cheapest" models of 3090 aren't much above the average 2080 Ti prices, with some 2080 Tis being easily more than the lowest 3090. Of course it's anyone's guess when folks are actually going to get their 3000 cards. Still, if I was totally without a functional card right now but wanted to keep gaming, I'd either get a used card from somewhere or buy some dirt cheap 570 or 580 to survive a few months.

This is TODAY's news. OUCH I know that the world does not stop spinning just because of RTX 3000 launch. But it kinda does. And it hasn't even been properly launched yet o_O

I must be the only one waiting for nVidia to launch Ampere so 2070 comes down in price, and I am set 😀
data/avatar/default/avatar07.webp
Will they come down in price or phased out. I am thinking the later.

Where is "OC" part in name coming from? Clock is matching reference.

I think this year only two higher-tier cards will be launched by AMD. Mid-tier cards are supposed to be coming 2021 H1. So, until then, 5700s should be the mid-tier cards, but they should do a serious price cut considering what nvidia is providing...

I´m just hoping for AMD side to move the 5700 series from high end to mid range with the proper price adjustment and they will just add the new "high end" GPU in the form of Big Navi and that´s it, again AMD will have nothing in the spectrum of enthusiast and sell-an-organ-bracket, to compete with 3090 and 3080 Ti / super (if they ever exist). I want a 5700 / 5700 XT at the price of Vega 56/64 before mining craze BS.

No AMD said the day will support RT there would be full stack of GPUs doing so, from enthusiast down to budget. And we have the APUs with RDNA2 next year. There won't be any rebranding.

Well even reference hits 2010Mhz with the blower, if you downvolt it 🙂 As for watercooling, 2055 without further tweaking, 2150-2200 feasible with the Navi tool 🙂 If you have reference board ofc, which are made with tantalum and not pathetic AIB one made with aluminium.

If they were going to lower the price, it wouldn't be until replacement products launch anyway.

5700 series wasn't "high-end" to start with. AMD's entire 5000 series is budget and mid-range.

As others have said....'strange launch'. I think a lot of board partners got caught off guard. How else can you explain this?

Since I have memory and from the 4000 series I have always recognized AMD gpu brackets as X500 series - Entry level, X600 series - mid range, X700 series - high end, x800-900 series - Enthusiast or dual gpus. 4650 5650 7650 RX - 260 or 360 RX - 460 or 560 5600 / XT - ???? I´m not interested to get into the non sense wars if "nvidia is better" and such and people start comparing the 5600 which certain GPU of the other vendor and claim it is X or Y bracket; and I´m dare to say this is mostly consistent with how AMD try to project his cards (at least to a very personal experience and perception) So taking the brand to a vacuum and comparing how they launch they products historically I, repeat, I would say that the 700 suffix for their product is definitely their high end bracket.

It is Asrock and it is not first time they did this.

If it isn't for below $250, then RIP.

Here in Portugal is the same situation, with some stores having small discounts. The remaining stocks from AMD and Nvidia are going to be a real pain...
