they really need to be cast aluminium or some type of alloy. the targeted buyer will spend the extra to get quality. If its plastic i will skip.

I do not know what material that is, plastic, aluminium or what, but it looks like that it's only there to hold the pedal return spring in place. It does not need to be a very strong spring as it's a gas pedal. No sure how the maximum pedal movement is limited in that design, does that spring also work as a limit or is the limiter similar to the brake pedal, if so then it does not look too weak for me.

designed to fail so you need to replace. no other reason... if its a alloy its fine if its plastic i would avoid.
