That was to be expected... With Jobs gone, the company is going to drop in share price really fast. My prediction is slowly coming true...

or the worldwide economic depression is shrinking demmand on apple products, just like on any other product and service.........
erm no. apple are going backwards. you don't see android struggling, do you?

I've said it before countless times. Apple are expensive and overpriced. I had Apple users argue with me about that saying it's not true. why don't Apple get some common sense and drop the prices to a level where they can compete? I mean you can get almost any top android phone free on a £35/month contract on its release day. New iPhones cost £150+ on similar contracts on release. and what do you get for your money? not that much actually. a badge.

price tag is on a different leage, hell economic depressong is even moving ppl to android bc of the prices (of apple devices they used to consume) anyways, apple sotck prices are beign down for a while, even before jobs death
AAPL reached historic maximum 2 weeks before Jobs died 😉

You get a product that works pretty flawlessly for one. As much as I like Android, I have constant issues with it, even with the stock experience on the GNex. In the mean time my sisters iPhone 4 not only offers a significantly smoother experience but she's never had a crash, random reboot, or anything. In the mean time my coworkers VZW S3 is blown up with constant ads in the notification bar one of which that actually plays sound, it's funny. Not to mention a samsung branded interface that looks like a mess and applications that he cannot remove (although they did add freezing which is nice). Also despite what hive mind Guru3D thinks, Apple actually innovates a lot of cool tech thanks to that high profit margin. There is no other company that could justify spending as much as Apple did to build a retina display or thunderbolt technology or even developing things like OpenCL as a standard. Then you also have just the quality difference. It's funny because there was a post on reddit.com/r/android the other day asking if people thought the Nexus 4's cheap price would drive down the inflated costs of other phones. While the $300 price of the Nexus 4 is definitely nice, you're getting a vastly inferior product overall. Not only does the phone need to be in a freezer in order to avoid weird clocking issues, the quality of other components has suffered due to cost savings. The DAC in the phone is garbage. One of the speculative reasons for missing LTE is also cost savings, even the radio that is in the phone under-performs. Non-removable battery is cost cutting. Under performing storage, etc. I'd rather Apple stay high cost and use it's marketing to justify higher quality devices and prevent the "race to the bottom" aspect that every other non-Apple company seems to be going now in days.

have to say I am yet to see any android to have ads popping up in notifications. if you want to see quality, just check out the upcoming android phones. they make iPhone look like something from the 90s.

Apple fan boiz will always be biased. My amusing point to add is that I work alongside an apple addict. He purchases nearly everything they release. The joys of Norwegian high salaries i guess. However he will not touch the iPhone ever since Samsung began dominating with the Galaxy 2 onwards. Unless Apple break the mold once more with their next phone or tablet, the decline will be far more rapid than it is now.

umm... Apple didn't innovate retina display, they just bought screens from Samsung and LG and then branded them. Also thunderbolt was both Intel and Apple. Anyway I personally will stick with a phone that allows me to upgrade its storage with a micro SD card, replace its battery, uses a standard connector like micro USB and control its software... and generally allow me to do what I want with my expensive purchase instead of trying to control me post-payment. Also, the screens on the iPhones are tiny, I almost died laughing when I heard the rumours of an iPhone mini, the current iPhone is mini compared to my Galaxy S3!

Actually no, Samsung doesn't just wake up one day and say "LETS BUILD RETINA SCREENS!" a customer comes to them with a large enough order to justify Samsung supplying a production to suit that need. And no company was doing this because they didn't have the marketing and cash flow to justify it. The general market didn't care about high res screens till Apple pushed retina as "magic" or whatever it is they do. I know what thunderbolt is. There is a trade off with user control. Working IT at a construction company where most users are not computer literate gives me perspective. On one hand I have a bunch of iPhone users who's general problems are questions about exchange and other minor stuff. On the other hand I have three users who's Motorola Admiral's are constantly rebooting and needing battery pulls. I also have that S3 guy who constantly ends up downloading crap from the unfiltered market. Plus other stuff. Now obviously I don't have most of these problems and you don't either, so yeah maybe Android is a better choice for us because it does allow a greater freedom of control over the device. And clearly Apple still has a bunch of issues with hardware design choices (some of which google seems to be copying). But Apple still has a place and their devices aren't terrible like everyone here likes to proclaim.

actually, for what you pay, they are horrible because I can't think of anything the expensive iPhone 5 can do and my 2 year old s2 can't. if anything, there's things the iPhone can't do. so yeah.

Meh, iirc Sharp was offering them new tech for the Retina display which allows lower power consumption. iPhone 5S soon?

I agree with this 100%. I'm not even an Samsung fan, but I've seen so many people who buy iphones and other apple products just for the sake of having this social badge. A lot of them can't even afford to pay for the stuff and take bank loans with **** contracts with no internet etc. It's hilarious really. I don't care at all about Apple's finantia situation, but for me it is clear, their products are overpriced, overhyped and overvalued.

I don't see it. On Verizon it's $200 on contract same as the Droid DNA with the same amount of space (16GB). The difference is you get better battery life, no preinstalled garbage, an interface that isn't blurrterrible, a faster CPU and GPU which equates to better performance in games, and a slew of higher quality apps. You lose some customizability for sure and you need to buy into Apples proprietary hardware crap and whatnot. But whatever, the experience overall is about the same between the two, there are just tradeoffs.

ok prices in America are clearly different. in the UK you can get any new android free on contract.

Well technically yes but you have to pay a lot in monthly fees to get the latest and greatest. If you want them on a lower monthly fee then you pay some upfront.

There are some cheaper Android devices you can get free on contract here but they are usually bad performance wise and are riddled full of random crapware. You can also get older iPhones for free on contract too, like iPhone 4 or the 4s for 4 $100. To me I'd still honestly rather have an Android, I like my Gnex and I want an S4 when it launches. I just don't buy into the Apple hate. It's not a bad product by any means and where I'm from the price isn't outrageous compared to other offerings.

Nothing to be surprised really. The economic troubles are hitting everyone including high end products. We can´t forget 90% of high end smartphones owners have bought their expensive toys on contracts so they could buy the phones cheaper. The problem is that the contracts are even more expensive! So now people are cutting expenses were they can and the mobile contracts are the first one on the chopping list. So people have to refrain from buying high end phones on contracts like they were used to. And let´s not forget the nowadays any company can release a phone as good as the Iphone. The Iphone only advantage is their integration between software and hardware. Other than that they only have their power full marketing!
