Problems in my AMD bios!? it's more likely than you think.
It was very common back in Zen 1/2 days but I guess they're getting more mature now. I remember having any RAM above 3000 Mhz was impossible, or a few builds randomly stop booting after a certain while (which was a pain in the ass as most were unsure how to reset their BIOS and re-enable their DOCP).

If you don't already own alder lake and want to be able to upgrade to a new CPU without changing anything, AMD will be the way. We clearly have the upgrade path for Zen 5, and if they keep AM5 alive for 4 to 5 years we probably gonna end up with Zen 6 too.
yeah but not if the cheapest 8 core starts at 450eur (not even the 7800x sku) ,ddr5 at 2x ddr4 cost and then prices keep rising for zen 5 . upgrade paths for cpus work best when there are good value cpus to buy to begin with.look what happened to am4 users when r5000 prices dropped, many of them never upgraded or took the r3000 route. and they were lucky am4 was cheap to buy at first and so was ddr4. so far, looking at r5000 prices and r7000 leaks, amd sends signals that your upgrade path will be to overpay for early am5 so that you can overpay for zen5 again.

After buying my current B550 based motherboard, it wouldn't work with the bios it shipped with and it then took about a year of many bios updates before it stopped making usb disconnect reconnect sounds.... *shrugs*

While I can't see the 7700X costing that much, what's the alternative. Intel's RPL is rumored to be going up in price, and the socket is EOL after that. They are most likely dropping DDR4 support after that too. So when 15th Gen rolls around its a board + DDR5 along with the CPU. There is no way that doesn't end up costing more than choosing AM5 if the option dropping in Zen6 is on the table.
