Yep... what I was "afraid" of, new platform, new issues. Just wait until people get this into their hands and start to beta test.

That doesn't mean it does not work as intended and is not stable. So far we don't know anything about the issue. Early report are talking about memory overclocking. As long as they are workiing with the default EXPO profile at "DDR5-6000" it is all good for the consumer.

it's great to have performance, but that can't come at the cost of stability performance+stability+value, that's a win for the buyer.

Yes, I agree. Let's see if this works, I wouldn't ask for much more than this.

True. Let's hope they can tackle all three and not just two, or one (stability alone).

hopefully they'll test the platform properly for usb and pcie errors before launch.

Or it is just an excuse to fuck up the Intel presentation and preventing Intel showing comparisons between 13000 series and 7000 series.

My money is on this. AMD want to look at Intel's new products, probably to adjust the price accordingly. Be ready for very high price if AMD found out that they're leading in performace. I might be wrong tho.

I still have a rare problem with the mobo not seeing my mouse or keyboard on startup but all I do is unplug it and plug it back in and boom works with no issues I happens once every 15 boots maybe on my gigabyte x470 it's really a non issue

I would rather have a company delay a product launch a month, than having to deal with bugs and performance issues. This is a point where AMD has been lacking a bit with Zen and it's bios.

Came here for this. Though honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if there are AGESA issues too. AMD is notorious for unpolished product releases. Regardless of the launch date, I can't imagine this is going to be worse than Ryzen 1000. Pretty much everything about that was fresh and new, and AMD didn't have the resources they have today to make it better on time. Even though AM5 is also new, the underlying architecture is pretty mature so there's a lot less they have to account for (all the more reason why I'm suspicious about this delay, since they had plenty of time and experience to get everything sorted).

absolutely correct. considering their last ES was in April i'm very skeptical as well. Intel has a glut of AL still on the market, more than what would be "normal" on back to back generational years. Intel has to convince many users that RL is a useful upgrade (it is) while AL prices don't have much wriggle room for mass discounts due to the high cost of production for the late model chipset and cpu. but Intel does have cash and lots of it - both AL and RL are partially underwritten (40% lower profit margin) by Intel to remain competitive. so imho, this is AMD hijinks and returning the favor of limelight stealing

This is why i'd still wait six months to a year to upgrade even if that means you only get a year or two of top performance. Even if i had the money to buy or pre buy a AM5 system i wouldn't. Just like with AM4 i waited until the items were all not Rev 1.0.

Even the Zen3+ mobile chips have already been using DDR5, so they are definitely more ahead of the curve now than the initial launch of Zen.

Possibly, though I think there was a Steamroller APU released with DDR4 too, before AM4 was released. Mobile platforms are a little easier since they're often only shipped with 1 or 2 memory channels and they don't tend to use very high clock speeds, so they can be relatively sloppy with tolerances. Let's hope you're right though.

it wasn't steamroller but it was excavator, carrizo(2015) and its refresh bristol ridge support both ddr3 and ddr4 but only up to 2400mhz , same silicon is used on both fm2+ and am4 and their contemporary fp4 mobile package. bonus: for those still rocking an fm2+ board, you can get an A8-7680 that sports excavator cores and gcn3 graphics, +15% ipc uplift with avx2 support, for like $50. Still extremely slow however.

Problems in my AMD bios!? it's more likely than you think.

Ah right, it was excavator. I had a feeling I was getting it wrong.

Interesting - only that one chip?

there are a few other chips, the athlon x4 845 and 835, and the a6-7480.

If this is true then am also going with the shafting intel option, how many times did Intel try that with AMD, I guess it could also be to prepare the 3d cache versions for sale if they have seen what Intels new CPU can do against Ryzen 7 and anybody naive enough not to think both sides have the others latest and greatest on a test-bench right now is fooling themselves.

Well if the NDA as kept the same "review available 48 hours before release date", you should have the Ryzen 7000 benchmark 2 days before Intel's event. So if they truly want, they can still try to show some performance number against Raphael. They just have to pick review benchmark numbers in a way.

They got a better weapon, it's the longevity of AM5. If you don't already own alder lake and want to be able to upgrade to a new CPU without changing anything, AMD will be the way. We clearly have the upgrade path for Zen 5, and if they keep AM5 alive for 4 to 5 years we probably gonna end up with Zen 6 too.
