Hmm, in retrospect, since I use DXVK Async, why do I need to bother with testing this Preview driver?

Somebody tested this driver with GoW ?

Wow...the 1% looks very good. Hopefully that fixes the stuttering in that game.

I have a small bug i'm still trying to figure out.
with MPC-HC (1.9.21.2), i get a greenscreen within a minute of playing a video.
tried different videos with different codecs,
tried madvr, evr, evr-cp, different output formats and colour depths.
still trying different things to see if i can find out what exactly is causing it, but so far no go.
other than that, driver is working well with the games i've tried. using same OC as previous drivers.
edit::
had to disable hardware acceleration in lav video options.
any selected option there made mpc-hc greenscreen.
seems to work properly with it disabled.
edit2::
it turns out the issue was an option in MPT in the PowerPlay Features.
MM_DPM_PG is on by default. if you turn it off (as i have during OC testing) then the issues above happen on my system. not sure if it'll be the same with everyone, but as long as I keep that on, no issues crop up.

Also confirming that this driver works on Vega56 (64 BIOS).
First results (TimeSpy, FireStrike, SotTR bench), good enough.

The peformance enhancement is REAL.
Since the game released, I had HUGE drops inside smoke clouds in PUBG. This was across the next cards: RX 580 then the VEGA 56 and now the 5600XT. I always had drops to the low 40 and even 30s if there were more than 2 smoke grenades thrown.
Now they are GONE for good. An steady 68 fps out of 68 fps.
Amazing drivers so far!

What are they doing differently to increase performance so much?

Edit:
This also seems to be true.

OpenGL game Teardown is working as I never seen it before!
Fo what I read on CapFrameX twitter, they are doing CPU load balancing a way deal better.

Good to see these improvements making their way to AMD's driver following NVIDIA's way earlier D3D11 optimizations among what other improvements are in this driver that is either a 22.5.2 preview or a fork from what will be a future driver branch and with RDNA3 when that comes out.
Also bodes well for future improvements if this is what is landing now as code cleanup and bug fixes and other enhancements are underway.
Liking what I am seeing from tests and such, really nice improvements. 🙂

Skip ahead to see the performance results.

This doesn't enable DCL's, but it enables API Multithreading for DX11 and OpenGL by treating them more like Mantle and DX12 using Platform Abstraction Layer

I haven't heard such positive buzz about AMD drivers in years if ever. AMD better up the salary of whom/whoever came through with these improvements or Intel will headhunt them for their failing ARC driver team. https://media3.giphy.com/media/5oaiDyhiohi9CqVXBe/200w.gif?cid=ecf05e47jxad587t5eijv4cp3vcr6g6370j368b4lz0ks2hg&rid=200w.gif&ct=g
