Zen2 (3700x?) is going to slot in real nice like into my x470 board next year. Not sure what to do with my 2700x tho.

As always, if the benchmarks in real life use (gaming?) show this, I'll be more than happy to buy it. Until then we will have to train in patience 😉

I could believe 29% IPC increase in certain (rare) workloads, but nowhere near that across all the spectrum of applications. However, if they can get the clocks easily above 4.5, it's just fine.

Go AMD!
Meanwhile at Intel.

If Zen2 actually manages to pull the number and take the gaming crown from Intel, I wonder if they gonna keep prices the same.
Would they just replace Zen+ (2700x) with 3700x for the same price, or sell it for more?

Well, Next year new CPU for me. I have been a longggg time Intel CPU user but they are releasing shit products every single year. Went and jump back to AMD after idk probably, since 2003 Athlon Fx 2600+. After upgrading to this x470 board everything seems way better than x370 so i will keep on the same train. This board is future proof for another 2 years o 3 years depending.

I assume most of this is due to improved avx performance.
that said, i remember reading an article that mentioned that the biggest weakness of zen1 core is the front end, and that the beef of the core is significantly more powerful, and as a result ends up being choked .
with the improved front end, big gains in ipc seem plausible.

Awesome! Man I can't freaking wait for Zen2 Threadrippers, they are going to be epic. Man if those nums are true that is crazy cool.
Now if only AMD could just be this insane with their GPUs and go full out, that be amazing! Calling it now 2019 is da year [ fingers crossed ]

Just upgraded my mobo with plans to slot the zen2 3600 in that bad boy and my current setup will be my secondary and no more Intel for me and I've been on Intel since I had my celeron D

I'm glad people here told me to hold out for Zen2 :>
Intel is digging their own grave asking premium prices for CPUs without Hyperthreading.
(Been using Intel since 2008)

My guess is that zen 2 is performing 10% less than 9900k, but costing 20% less.
Hoping for 20% faster than 9900k, and costing 30% less.
I believe in Santa claus 😉

If these tests that reference 29% increase include AVX/AVX2 components, then its no wonder, because Zen1 basically had gimped AVX support (emulated by 128-bit units, instead of real 256-bit units). It is well known by now that AVX 256-bit is coming to Zen2.
Unfortunately, that kind of "IPC" improvement only benefits a select group of applications.

I hope AMD would make power efficient and high-powered GPUs in future, that are priced like their CPUs. Go AMD!

I just want an 8 core, 5 jizzahurts, Zen2 cpu for my next upgrade... Buying AMD stock now to fund that purchase... 😀
