It should leave 980 in the dust. With the latest fiasco and new badass card from AMD will leave nVidia shaking. This is looking to be another HD 5000 vs Fermi. ๐Ÿ˜€ Nice, nice i might get one.
It's only a fiasco for the smallest of small niches. Nvidia has more loose change in its couch cushions than AMD makes annually, so I think it's safe to say they aren't quaking in their boots over a marginally better card that doubles as a space heater. Frankly it took AMD so long to approach release they'll have an incredibly small window to boast about performance before the 980ti or Titan 2 is announced.

In which country you live, precious? The prices are monstruous high!
hmm... could be Brasil?

Good Good, this means we shall see an Nvidia card within 1-2 months after. Hurry AMD and release your Bait so the Bigger Fish can come along and Gobble you up.
You got that right, nothing to upgrade my cards, so I upgraded the audio section of my rig.

In my country we don't get the price reductions from AMD so the R9 290x cost the same as GTX 980. With prices like this is very hard to consider AMD. This is the price range of the cards in my country converted to USD GTX 970: 550-590 USD GTX 980: 880-990 USD R9 280x: 400-440 USD R9 290x: 840-990 USD
I don't believe these prices there rediculous why are AMD so much more expensive? Come with actual truth through original screens showing these prices. In my country AMD alot cheaper and cheaper then Nvidia.

Yeah I noticed, cool man. Not worth buying any cards atm, you going for a gm200?

Yeah eventually, want to do a cpu upgrade first

So you think paying close to $1000 bucks american is reasonable for an r9 290x when you can get one for around $300 in the U.S. The same thing goes with the other cards as well. It is very good news that AMD is getting closer to finishing up the r9 300 series cards.

People will still b!tch, because they think GTX 970 is 160W card.
I seriously don't understand where people get the impression it's not. Care to elaborate? I'm genuinely curious.

R9-380x will have 10% higher real performance/Watt than GTX 970. People will still b!tch, because they think GTX 970 is 160W card. Price will be another thing, I expect initial performance/price ratio around GTX 980 and that will make many weep. But if AMD manages to put even price in check, then I will laugh so hard. There are people who got echo in advance: http://www.nasdaq.com/symbol/amd/interactive-chart?timeframe=5d
talk about bullcrap speculation fueling the market it wont be till 2Q the lady said unless this guy knows more then the chairman Facebook please gafl whats he going to tell the guy oh sure go get that 980 we wont have it ready till a few months lol that's just his answer to the guy...oh no worries we are finishing it up lol what a joke

Nvidia...More powerful...more expensive. AMD...Less powerful...cheaper to purchase. Always been the same. I think if AMD can get the price right and the cooling is good enough they could have a winner. I do think AMD shoulda gone 20nm for serious consideration tbh, who knows they may still do, i think theres a good chance.
That has not always been the case at all. The performance lead has switched back and forth many times.

You're nearly there. But you know, you want to buy before price spikes and then sell, not otherwise.

Ask tom's who took proper measurement equipment, put card via PCIe Raiser and measured additional 50W taken via PCIe from board... (it floats around from late September, not that many care to read numbers)

no I was needing winter heating in my loft so I kept the 3 290x's I got,but I should have dumped them at 450$ thuo now they are worth less as vga's in resale since they are down 50%^ of what I paid talk about not holding value I know you would say its a rip but the 780 ti's still go for a pretty penny and held there value in resale so did the 580's at that time.

Agree and one leak said 380x is around cut down gm200 (gtx), 390x beats full fat gm200 (gtx Ti), but then the same persons raged;its bs, this cant be true, nv is always no1! lol ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ™‚ http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=395508 http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=394989 Imho 3d ram probably saves it, gm200 with ~340Gb? vs Fiji with 600gb+ is quite a difference.

Hope they pull some tasty stuff out of their sleeve, within the next 3 months we've got several high end, highly anticipated games being released. Personally I know a bunch of people chomping at the bit to buy new cards. (Not enthusiasts that upgrade every year) If AMD cant make a good thing out of this Nvidia cock up then they might as well shut down and **** off.

I like the idea of 8gb that thinks it is and performers like 10gb new NVIDIA tech ram stretching:)
8GB that thinks and performs like it's 10GB would be great. Unfortunately, NVidia is going the other direction. They'd sell an 8GB card that can only use 7GB.
I just hope these R9 3XX cards are so badass it forces Nvidia to release the full GM200 first and at a competitive price not another cut down GPU at $1K. Last thing I want to hear from Nvidia is, "We expected more from AMD."
Too late to make that claim....

I can't wait for this card. I now wish we could finally get some concrete specs on what to expect. I just hope it lives up to all the hype. There has been to many rumours and not enough fact for my liking. But hey, that's the way it's always been. ๐Ÿ™‚

I can't wait to sell my 970... really, it's a great card, but full of sh1t. I can't use the highest textures in-game if it uses more than 3GB of vram (fps drop)
https://forums.guru3d.com/data/avatars/m/206/206288.jpg
I honestly don't think it's going to be as fast as people think. It makes little sense to release something alot faster when they could do one card that's a slightly faster than release a refresh when Nvidia has an answer. The leaks if true also point to a card that is priced at something Nvidia would release, which i don't think would sit well with a lot of AMD users.
