apart from x3d version gaining literally zero in comparison to 5800x in gnexus test of csgo, a couple of % in rss from hardware unboxed, and one more competitive title on pcgh where it was 9% faster,I haven't seen anything to validate that claim.
on the contrary,it seems to do better mainly in single player games.
If you play any one of those games for thousand of hours and have the money to spare, I don't get why you would choose the 5800X because it has better price/perf
Sure price/perf sounds good and all but it's only secondary to sheer performance, and 450usd is not that hard a pill to swallow unlike the 800usd 12900KS
Furthermore when you upgrade to faster GPU than the 3090Ti in the future, CPU performance matter even more.
Or even the 5900X which is cheaper than the 5800X3D.
AMD seriously missed the mark here regarding pricing of the 5800X3D. I understand it needs to be more expensive than the 5800X but not by this much (37% in Sweden).

I don't believe AMD was even planning to sell huge amounts of them. Something like the 5700X would be a better bet for that. They might have calculated selling less for more profit per unit with the 5800X3D.
If you play CSGO, Valorant, Fortnite, Warzone, Halo Infinite, Apex Legends, etc...somewhat competitively then price/perf can go fly out the windows 😀
you buy a 12900KS and 6400 DDR 5 if you play those games.... Though I think if you play Fortnite the 5800X3D is better as it appears to have a good impact on UE.

So you thought it was just supposed to be an answer to the 12900KS? Could be.
Cheaper in Canada on release than the 5800X. 5800X3D $569.00 Canadian
Yeah, I was surprised to see we got something close to the exchange rate for once. $449 USD is about $564 CAD, so I was expecting them to round up to $600.

I was also surprised on the price.None in stock at my local store,I will check back tomorrow,I am on the fence about buying one though.

Well, what frame rates are you aiming for, and do you plan on getting Zen 4? I switched from a 3900X to a 5800X3D so it was an absolutely massive increase in gaming performance with a 3080 for me, which matters since I plan on skipping Zen 4, I use a 240Hz monitor, and I'll probably get the next noVidia xx80 or xx90 if it doesn't cost 4 pure souls.
AMD Store US sold out of them yesterday by lunch time--I hit it about 10:00 am, and it was still in stock for $449. Also, yesterday, I followed a reddit link to Amazon US selling the 3d for 449.00 as well. Today, I can't find the page..! Must have sold out quick. I checked Newegg and they were price gouging at $589, yesterday. Again, no one should pay gouging prices. Basically, if you are gaming at 1080P or 1440P then the 5800X3d is a no brainer, if having those high frame rates tickles your fancy. Personally, I don't see much difference between 100 fps and 200 fps, but some people want as much as they can get. I was surprised on several sites to see what a thrashing the 3D gave the standard 5800X...pretty impressive on most games, and the agreement among the sites was fairly consistent. Here's a $440 CPU on a DDR4, PCIe4 motherboard beating out or tying $600-$800 Intel Alder Lake on PCIe5/DDR5 motherboards. I think that is fairly impressive, myself. 1080P is fairly CPU limited; 1440P is still somewhat CPU limited; but at 4k--where I play--the CPU doesn't really matter that much. Amazingly, though, the 5800X3D even beats out AL in a few of those at 4k--but not by much at all. So, I will likely stick with my 3900X for the time being, as gaming at 4k with the 6700 XT is pretty sweet right now.

Now, why did you have to say that?...;) But you aren't playing at 4k, eh? I thought that doing 4k was also great because if and when I hit a game that didn't run fast enough at 4k to play smoothly and without stutter than I could always drop down to 1440P or 1600P and pick up a lot of frame rate without having too much eye-candy lost, but so far, even with my former 5700XT, I haven't had to do that, yet...which surprises me a little bit. Now I've got a 6700XT, GB Eagle, and I've got a 20%-35% performance increase over the 5700XT at 4k, so I'm still cooking with gas...;)
And then I read your post and suddenly I'm looking at the 5800X3d again...;) Hah...thanks for your post!
We're all so used to miners screwing us over that I think we've forgotten that scalpers exist. I think scalpers knew that these would be moderately popular and limited production.
I'd say if you're going to go with AMD, want something long-lasting, and aren't a frame chaser, the 5700X is the best choice right now. A small overclock would put it above the 5800X in games. The lack of PCIe 4.0 isn't really that big of a deal for games, at least if you're playing in 4K.

I just buy PC gear for the fun of it. Last couple years 2600X/3600X/3600XT/3800X/3800XT/5600X/5800X/10850K/12900K . Actual FPS were about the same on all the CPU's I used,I play PC Games at 4k. I am just on the fence because I am lazy and do not want to bother grabbing my PC case where it is at in the furnace room and changing the motherboard and CPU.Yeah dumb reason but if I go to local PC shop and there is a 5800X3D in stock I will grab it.
I still happy with my R5 3600 @ 4,525Mhz I currently cheeking if I can find cheap any Zen 3 CPU with missing / bend pin to fix it and upgrade 😉
My B550 cost me 20$ + my time for fixing missing SMD and trace 😉
Sadly AM4 is last gen when you can buy cheap damaged* CPU and easily fix it 🙁
*bend pins ect.
