@Hilbert Hagedoorn Do you believe this upcoming cpu and chipset is the most relevant upgrade for my system (athlon x4 860k and FM2+ chipset)? This when released should be safely at least double the performance but almost the same low-end price, am I thinking right?

No offense Warlord, but just about anything would be considered an upgrade. The 2300x would be a very fine upgrade in my opinion.

Your best to put Warlord on ignore list.

nothing - someone is asking a genuine question , not all of us are experts here on this site , hence the asking 😉

Anyhow, yes it would be a lovely upgrade. The CPU would be ~125 bucks, maybe less than a 100 for B450. So yeah good upgrade compared to your current specs. Finding a suitable cheap enough DDR4 kit, however, could be the deal breaker.

Impressive I haven't checked ram prices for some time now perhaps more than a year before. Now I get it. A proper gaming kit with 16gb ram amount can cost as much as a cheap cpu and mobo together(!!!!!!!!!!!!!). I really await your review with ram impact in performance to decide what to do, if my budget doesn't change I am gonna built an improved version of my current system level-wise when these aforementioned hardware pieces are available. Next station is the next gen nvidia/amd mid-range gpu. Thanks for answering though. 🙂

Warlord has AMD problem. He kind of hates on his GPU as he has a lot of stutter. 1/2 of forum is telling him to upgrade that ancient CPU which is cause of that issue. It can be annoying at times, but I do not think it is something that would made me fill 1st slot on my ignore list 🙂

With any 4C/4T, you'll be in same spot in year or so. Minimum for good gaming is 4C/8T. But I would advice you to get Ryzen 2600. 6C/12T will last much longer. You will love you GPU again. (That's if you ever did.) As for Ram, I have 2x 8GB Crucial Ballistix Sport 2666MHz w/ awful timings. (cheapest thing I could find what had at least 2666MHz) They easily clocked to 3000MHz with better timings that stock. My 2400G is quite happy with them.

I'm kind of in the same boat as WARLORD's post. Temporary tight on money due to life (car parts) but this cheap CPU should last a few years gaming then when you have more money upgrade to an 8 Core Ryzen which by then will probably be super cheap due to AMD's aggressive progress to be #1 trying to beat INTEL. By then you can even buy a used 8 core for probably peanuts. The important factor which I regret was buying cheap under performing RAM, and now I can't even find the ones that are compatible. Don't cheap out on RAM! You can easily and cheaply find another GPU or CPU to suite your specific needs down the road. If there is one thing I learned from this great site is that RYZEN's performance is mostly based on the speed and timing of the selection of RAM that is in the market. Once prices go down and RAM get's faster RYZEN sales will be even better.

@Fox2232 If I didn't like ATI I wouldn't be red for the last 15 years in gpu dept. I would stay green since back then. My i7 system died unexpectedly as a whole except the...case, that's why I bought a low cost AMD cpu at the time due to low budget. Since then I await something with double or triple performance but at a mediocre cost 🙂 @Hilbert Hagedoorn Agonist just hates the fact I bash AMD quite often but it is just pure complaining. Maybe my manners weren't and still aren't proper enough, other people too somehow do not like reading my posts sometimes, I just tell what I think, I prefer even if it as online forum, to be an open book and talk to you like I would speak in front of my physical pals. I do not find it elegant to be a hypocrite and tell what everyone wants to hear. If it is a crime or a misbehavior I would like moderators to tell me clearly why (if) I a am problem, they can see history. I apologized but some people put me the stamp of a troll or a troublemaker. That I do not like. They can ignore me but I cannot accept the fact asking others blocking me or removing my ability to be heard. I am not perfect neither world is. I am just a man who likes technology and when I had money I was an enthusiast. For now I am just a watcher trying to live with whatever I am able to get. Next year some time guru3d becomes 20 y.o. Many people either guests or even banned still support this domain. We admire the work, style, credibility and professionalism here. If after 19 years every day visits, I deserve more criticism, more bans, more isolation, it is your call to make HH. I am so sorry for any disturbance. Good and healthy day to all.

Honestly, boss, I can't stand him. Especially in AMD driver threads, and early Ryzen threads, he was well I will keep my mouth shut. I don't like his ignorance. And it was better to ignore him then get myself banned after being a member for 10 years.

Only want to hear information about the 2800X, as for the 2300.... there will always be low end options. Let's move on.

I think it's probably better to go and look for a used 1600/1600X since those will stay relevant the few coming years opposed to 4 core CPU's which will be obsolete in less then 2 years. Already see several 1600's being advertised around 110-120 Euros which is really good value for the money.

You are know this IS a thread about the 2300x I hope. It is in the title.
