Come on Hilbert, no sources = clickbait, you know that.

Well if it's expensive they will make card with ddr5 simple..
Are the memory controllers compatible?

no source.... just an assumption

If they have a fork already build (as NVidia have done with pascal GPU) yes... Sadly... it seem they haven't done that fork, and so unsolvable issue with memory controler of the GPU 😛c1:. We will see. 🙂

not at all

On other hand we already know that HBM2 is really expensive (even for pro NVidia user)... not really new. But with mass production it will tend to be cheaper.

I love it when fanboys (AMD in this particular case) are unable to accept the cold hard truth.

No idea to the validity of the pricing. However, I sense this is preparing us for the eventual pricing of Vega.

what damn truth.. there are not actual data to support he damn claim...

It's most certainly going to be more expensive for Nvidia than AMD since AMD invented the thing.

this buzz is going around the industry
According to our multiple, well informed industry insiders, the 4GB HBM 2 memory stack cost around $80 USD
whats so hard to believe?

Khm , now i can say that in FACT i was one of those well informed industry sources and actually it is 100 bucks not 80... see my point here

That doesn't make much of a difference if production cost is already this high. The big difference however is that NVIDIA smelt the problems with HBM2 and made their GPUs quite versatile and able to back all sorts of memory - which really is quite a huge advantage. They could release a high-end beast with HBM2 and use GDDR5X in the lower models without troubles, something AMD apparently cannot do so easily.

yes. unlike the other day when you screamed that the rumor about postponed Vega was false and to debunk this rumor you used Su's statement which says that AMD is: launching Vega across all the market segments over the next couple of months now that was the funniest debunk ever 🙂

no you don't see mine if you were you would not want to be named understand? that would not be so much as "insider info" just the little things that are not so public but could be. different from future hardware releases how fast and such o don't think there is an nda on that

Actually it was false, the guy who posted the reddit topic (the one HH referenced ) misunderstood the interview and stated that gaming vega is coming two months after the FE (pro version) and deleted his OG topic btw... so again there is no proof that anything was postponed and i advocated for waiting for computex for any sort of confirmation... and as for Lisa statement that could be that vega is launching from the pro segment all the way to mobile in those couple of months..

These anonymous sources are really so reliable /s it is the same deal with the amd/intel gpu deal that came from such "industry reliable sources"..

Indeed, the postponed Vega launch was the meat of the original rumor, but the Su's statement which was posted later is hardly any more encouraging in this regard than the "False" rumor. I am referring to constructs like: very soon thereafter and over the next couple of months.

I don't know what you guys are arguing over, this is pure clickbait. Just look at the headline, it states the price as a fact... Didn't even have the courtesy to put in "may cost'. I understand the need to drive traffic to the site, but it's sad to do so with fake news clickbait stories. The HBM2 could cost $20 or $200, there is no actual data presented in the story. Show me an actual data point (price sheet, etc) where it shows the price of HBM2 and I'll be more than happy to agree.

I really don't expect this to be true, that is just to high of a price. AMD would not have negotiated a $160 price so um calling BS on this one.
https://forums.guru3d.com/data/avatars/m/79/79740.jpg
If true, I doubt AMD had planned on it or factored in that high of a cost. I think they took a gamble early on that it wouldnt be that high but somehow the cost inflated due to circumstances beyond their control. Again, if true.
