Well, last year it was either a new GPU with my 2700X... so as things panned out, I just got a 5800X, doubled my RAM, and new motherboard... Someone got my money, and it wasn't nVidia or scalpers.
You done good!

Undying:

Im still gonna keep my 2700X until there is 7800X with ddr5. Now thats a real upgrade.
Im not sure what to do, i have a 3800x and 32gb of Ram on a Tachi 570 with 6900xt, so go DDR5 set up or just upgrade my CPU and ride it out until i need to replace my 6900xt and go for a complete new rig.

Wow only1 year late for the 5700x and 5600 and 5800 . I was expecting these models to come much much earlier .... It took so long I assumed those will not get released at all!
I suppose yields were good enough throughout Zen 3's production that it took this long to accumulate enough dies that wouldn't qualify for use on the earlier released processors, so that AMD could actually create these SKUs, and have enough stock to support sales. I would hope they have more on-hand then they seemed to have when the 3300X was released.

I think its fine until there is 7800XT and 7800X.

I generally skip a generation with GPUs, so id gone 580gtx, 780gtx, 1080Ti, 6900xt etc etc, CPUs i go maybe 2 or 3 generations before changing so was on a quad core Intel 2700k @ 5ghz before jumping to the 3800x. I game at 4k so i think it will be a while before any games i play will be CPU bottlenecked.

well the chiplets are tiny their bottom of the barrel silicon seems to be their 6 core chaplets ! And yeah they where able to sell out everything till recently and they still sell good i guess intel grabbing lately a respectable amount of the sales with alderlake finally left chiplets to be used on lower skus too .

Same resolution as you and I went from a 2700X to a 5800X last year, and even with keeping my RTX 2070 (so very much GPU bound), I noticed an improvement in frame times, not to mention a general speed-up in everything else like decompressing zip files and encoding.
I may become more GPU bound as my ultrawide got busted over the weekend. My desk leg broke and monitor was destroyed. So im thinking ablut getting a 32:10 3840x1600 monitor bow.

Damn 🙁 Shit happens i guess but its not a good time buying a monitor when yours ware perfectly usable for few more years. Try getting an G9 (not neo) sometiems they are at discount.

So the 5600x will probably be faster than the 5700x?
that is the reason I don't believe the rumors about halving the cache size cause it would, and by some distance and 5600 wouldn't even match a 11400f,let alone 12400f.

True^...no one would make a marketing disaster like that.

It'll be more likely that it's a lower clocked 5800X or have a lower TDP much like the 3700X compared to the 3800X (It'll probably be leaky chip that doesn't clock high without a lot of voltage, just like the 3700X)

The 5700X, if true, sounds enticing. I always felt the 5800X was overpriced, and even on sale, is still much more than I'm willing to pay. Though if the rumors about the 5700X are true, there's likely a pair of core chiplets, which I'm not particularly interested in. I'm still going to be waiting until the 6000 series before I make any decision.

I´m thinking the same. This CPUs should have been released 6 months ago, releasing them now seems a little silly.
hey guys, there's been a little thing called supply chain interruption for 2+ years now because of covid

yet intel has just absolutely been spamming every retailer with 10th,11th and now 12th gen. even 12th gen goes on sale regularly, 20-30eur below msrp.

ride it out. you're in the lucky few with a current gen gpu. whatever FPS you gain from the x3d, you might gain still more on AM5 with ddr5. if price was no obstacle you could buy a new cpu - for 6-10 months of modest gains (either Intel or AMD) but both AMD and Intel have far superior products on the way (AMD is in ES now, Intel not too far behind) with more pcie lanes, faster gaming (node shrink & uArch), and lower power draw. you have an excellent system, update with new mobo/cpu later, the prices of ddr5 will continue to fall and by the time AM5 hits the shelves this summer/fall the price of ordinary ddr5 will be at the price of premium ddr4. Alder Lake should be a no-go zone for you - it's a one-off and Meteor Lake (winter 22/spring 23) will have an entirely new chipset and will be better than Alder Lake.

Intel is spamming with their own fabbed items. they Are Not spamming anything from TSMC (yet) Intel has a supply chain dramatically shorter than AMD, Apple or any other designers of cpus. most of their supply chain is in a 100 mile radius around Santa Clara.

I feel like I shouldn't tell you to break a leg shopping for a new, even better screen.
