So that is 96MB shared by 6 cores. While the 5800X3D is shared by 8. I wonder if this will help in some games.

Yeah, just a few days after I bought 5800x3d after a year of waiting :/

In theory it should in cache heavy games that don't use more than 6 cores... but we'll see if it applies to anything in reality.

I think you're better off with the 8 cores, 6 is starting to show its age. And the 5600X3D is in-person at Microcenter only, at just $50 less than the 5800X3D.

It will not be made available in the EU. It is Exclusive to Micro Center in the US. The chips are recycled 5800X3D chips that failed but still usable with 6 cores. This is solely to reduce e-waste. AMD never had plans for such a CPU to begin with. That's why there's only 1 batch available for 1 retailer. It's not mass produced. Source: Gamers Nexus

Ok thats actually good to hear 🙂 some games still prefer 6 cores but 8 cores are better to have for many reasons, and most likely will be the case for the future. Living in EU solved that dilema for me as well....

I wonder if the EU availability is decided based on stock and number or SKUs

Seems like AMD has a very limited amount of 5600X3Ds. Only enough for the USA, and even at that, only enough for one store chain. I doubt AMD will even send this CPU for reviewers. Maybe some will be able to go to the store to buy one and review it, like Gamers Nexus, Linus Tech Tips, etc. But reviewers outside North America, will have much more trouble getting one.

Jay from JaysTwoCents managed to score one (probably due to his relationship with MicroCenter) and has promised to release benchmark numbers as soon as the embargo was lifted (he thought it was set for July 5th).

Curious to see how it performs. Considering it's such a limited release, I wonder if it will become a collectable.

A collectable? Why?

Any x3d chip will be collectible from AM4. I know I'll never sell my 5800x3d. I'll just hand it down my line of rigs before it becomes desk art. It's an odd and rare type of bad ass CPU.

I sort of understand what you mean and I miss some of my old GPUs, but I always sell to get something back cuz money here comes short. CPUs are harder to sell because they depend on having compatible motherboard and ram, I have most of them as I've only sold my E8400 with motherboard and ram. I wish more manufacturers would think of a socket with longevity in mind, at least 5 years. I wish I could have kept my hardware over the years and display it on shelves.

There are some odd CPUs here and there that were produced in relatively small quantities but were either good at just one particular thing or were very odd, such as the i7 5775C, VIA KX-5000, or Cyrix 5x86 - these are all collectable, in the sense that none of them are worth using today but they have a story to tell.

I also keep one x58 board for being the most legendary chipset ever with my x5560 xeon. I paid $75 for it in 2014, and it overclocks to 4 6ghz from 2.6ghz. GPUs like HD 5970, Fury X, those are collectibles too. Have both. Lol

5775c 4/8 still kicks even ryzen 1700 8/16 in new games. 45fps difference in BF1 lol, 55fps in fortnite, 20% in msfs (even if that's just 8fps it matters a lot when comparing 40 vs nearly 50), almost 15% in spiderman (55% in 1% lows lol), almost 100% in rdr2 1% lows. [youtube=HyLVecAKUTM] ryzen 1700 buyers were made to believe 8/16 is going to fix the ipc deficits, but even broadwell on ddr3 turned out a lot better, let alone 7700K + ddr4.

Where are all them 5600X3D reviews?!

Gamers Nexus has one. LTT made a short test on Short Circuit and Jay Z Two Cent as one as well. It's not available outside of Micro Center (in-store only) in the US so, if you were hoping for a EU release, you are out of luck. Better search for someone who will forward it to you if you really need one.

I found this review of the 5800X3D but with core scaling and RAM scaling to show what the 5600X3D might be: https://github com/xxEzri/Vermeer/blob/main/Guide.md#overall-performance https://camo.githubusercontent.com/ffb95705d1181e0752afdf702e0d6f33cd43039667e5d08b2d7327841d73851a/68747470733a2f2f692e696d6775722e636f6d2f584751373136462e706e67 I want to see how it can be Oc'ed for academic purposes but good ram should still be used or tuned on this CPU. For half the price of the 7800X3D, it is a good deal.

That is a very good in depth review. And even with all that cache, the 5800X3D can still get some good gains from optimized memory. https://camo.githubusercontent.com/0bdbe2cff7a63418451dafde0fbe631bc99d95946830d674ecdd3748244a34c6/68747470733a2f2f692e696d6775722e636f6d2f797169787248732e706e67
