1800x is the better buy over this and 1700 is an even better buy. Unless you need the extra PCI lanes I don't see this chip selling too well. Now the 1920x and 1950x are a different story.

It's probably a niche product, but there are some scenarios where it makes sense. Applications which can make use of the extra memory bandwidth will see some modest gains (as the Hardware Unboxed video above shows). There are also apps and use cases where most of the work is done on the GPU (GPU-based rendering or computing), with the CPU being a little more than an I/O controller, and the 1900X makes sense here (the same with the lower-core Epyc CPUs). Also, they're probably binned 1920Xs so AMD has nothing to lose by selling them

Do we have any idea how much the interconnect latency will affect gaming performance? This chip is in stock and I'm almost ready to pull the trigger.
If you want an eight core/16 thread cpu for gaming you are better off getting the 1700/1700x, overclocking it and saving alot of money.

Agree its only good buy if you are want have more PCI_E lanes, but still there are no boards which would make to use these lanes, if there is something like 6-7 PCI_E slot motherboard etc then I'm pretty sure many people would switch 1700/1700x are probably best CPU for money and 5960x or 6900k are just overpriced CPU Thanks, Jura

pricing wise for 1900X it not different much compared intel side 7820X $590 vs 1900X $550 its much more appealing with AMDs higher end or lower end as intel start $1000 with 10cores (7900X) while 1920X 12cores only $800 it would be clear CPU of choice if AMD set more aggressive price for 1900X like $480

Imo 1900x is the best out of the bunch, 1920x review shows it by games vs 1800x; higher ram bandwidth and lower latency. Also xfr 4.2ghz, so 4.2 should be doable np, unlike by 1800x with 4ghz xfr.

According to AMD's own info it underperforms in gaming when compared to 1800x. It has no more cache than 1800x nor a clock advantage when overclocking. Plus the motherboard is a $150 premium over x370 boards. Unless you need the PCI lanes it's a bad buy compared to 1700/x. I'm not saying that it does not have an advantage over 1700/1800x but not a $300-450 worth of an advantage.
