Unless you're really into widescreen, I'd highly recommend avoiding such a thing. The first day I switched back to 16:9 from 43:18 it was a bit jarring, but it feels good to be back to a ratio that I feel fills my field of vision more with how close I sit to my monitor. Also, it's nice not having to mod every fucking thing to support my monitor's aspect ratio.

Not sure if you play a lot of retro stuff etc, but I've used Ultrawide for well over 12+ years and most stuff is fine. Early on things like Widescreen fixer came in handy but I've not needed to mod or change anything in years. Last things that come to mind was QuantumBreak & Cyberpunk before the first patch. I'd never go back to a 16:9 again. Although, I did find the curve slightly irritating for Word/Excel type tasks.

HAHAHAHHA, oh the ignorance. Enjoy your 2007 console aspect ratio. 99% of the games work out of the box for 32:9, and its so damn easy to fix the ones that don't.

I mean that just isn't true at all xD and I do 21:9 which is technically more supported and even then i ran into issues with a good chunk of games, maybe the games "you" use support it but you must have quite a limited choice, but in the games i played most require mods to get there, and even then cutscenes are often not included in this

I do play retro games a notable amount, and many console titles that might not be considered retro that are locked to 16:9, with no mods that exist to expand them. Even native PC titles have been a pain for me. But even beyond that, as I said with how close I sit, 16:9 fills my field of vision more than 43:18. If I sit close enough to UW to fill my field of view horizontally, I can still see a good chunk more vertically that is not covered by an UW ratio. Going closer than that to get more vertical view is too close for me at 3440x1440 (too easy to see the subpixels) and it wastes the horizontal space since that goes so far into my periphery that it's negligible to me. My 16:9 screen is 3840x2160, I can sit a lot closer to it and I don't need to sit as close as the UW1440 one ironically.

2005 console aspect ratio... which is the standard ratio for nearly all media to this day, nearly 2 decades later. Odd that I find the universal standard to be convenient. If "99% of the games work out of the box for 32:9, and its so damn easy to fix the ones that don't" applied to me, do you think I would have said what I did? I use FlawlessWideScreen even when not using UW because it often has fixes beyond aspect ratio for games, between that and manually modding games to support 43:18, I'd still run into so many that there's no way to run in UW that it was beyond frustrating. Also, what about "fills my field of vision more with how close I sit to my monitor" is so hard to understand? I'm glad you think it's funny though. I'm not saying 16:9 is ideal for everyone, but pretending that a non-standard res is not a problem is just a lie, maybe you got lucky, but it's still a pain. Now I'm curious: What monitor is that which you use / how close do you sit?

Yea, UW+high refresh rate is garbage, stupid hype. Black borders+bent visual on every standard videos/games/texts, wasted hz because of cpu's bottelneck unless you're playing a select few yesterday games, high failure of ghosting in high refresh rate panel, meaning you either have to buy in store or preparing sending the unit back and forth. With unlimited money i would just buy a large flat 75hz screen with really good colors for the sake of my sanity.
