Like cucaulay malkin said (great name btw), real world workloads usually involve small random reads and writes. It's for this reason and the fact that loading files also involves the CPU that games don't usually benefit much if at all from NVMe compared to good ol' SATA of equivalent quality. The sequential speeds manufacturers quote are a best case scenario figure and you've fallen for marketing if you expect those numbers to be attained in all workloads. This must be one of the biggest misconceptions in the PC enthusiast world, along with expecting a game to use 100% of your CPU if you have a CPU bottleneck
