Seems like latency is the most important factor in that benchmark judging from those listed benchmarks

30GB free space required! no space to install, wouldn't let me choose a different drive letter that's on the same boot drive (eg my NVMe drive) - seems like an oversight in design given that my steam folder (where 3DMark is installed) is on my D: drive of my NVMe and has enough space available there, yet it decided only to look only at my C: drive on the same NVMe drive.

The 30 GB free space is only required when running the storage test on a specific drive. The actual installation of this 'DLC' is only about 85MB. You can find it under "..\steamapps\common\3DMark\dlc\storage-test" in your Steam Library.

Scored 3514 on wd sn850 1tb with Storage Bandwidth Overall 600.91 MB/s and Storage Average Access Time Overall 51 µs. http://www.3dmark.com/strg/3309 Bandwidth of 600 MB/s is like sata 6 era, no?

That's good to know, but still a pity it requires 30GB free space on your OS drive. Some people purposefully create a relatively small OS drive for ease of backup reasons.

I'm not paying wth and you shouldn't too 1st you buy the app 2nd you lease the app for one year 3rd if you bought the app you need to pay again for a "DLC" 4th you will lease the app AND have to pay for "DLC" just you wait it's coming "DLC" aka a normal regular software update that should be there to motivate new customers not scalp the ones who already paid @Oversemper SATA3 is 500Mb/s so yeah I don't know what this number is, most critics of this "DLC" say that not only is it paying but it's nowhere near as good as the free crystalmark

It does NOT require 30 GB on your OS drive, unless you want to benchmark your OS drive 😉

What's the point of this? Just run CrystalDiskMark ZIP edition, compare speeds to what it says on the box and be happy.

https://i.imgur.com/uqjbeOg.png The test is weird, takes forever to start, takes a looong time to finish 3 loops. It tests actual game loading, saving, streaming etc, which felt alot longer than actual. My results are abit higher than the 980 pro from the article, maybe because im using win11? Doesnt win 11 have i/o improvements accdg to hardware unboxed benchmarks. Thank god for regional pricing its only 1$ for me.

Actually, no, it won't let me choose the other partition of the NVMe drive to benchmark, it's greyed out, see the red circled parts of following: https://imgur.com/XZXNLHp For some reason it seems unaware that it could benchmark D: partition of my NVMe drive, as it won't let me select it. EDIT: turned out I just have to buy it first! Will update with my result soon...

Are you sure you downloaded and installed the benchmark first? I remember my screen looked like yours only before actually installing the benchmark. EDIT: nvm I've just read your edit about buying the damn thing 😀

Apples and oranges, this test is clearly not meant for everyone 😉 But I agree, this should be free DLC for paying owners of 3DMark.

Optane 900p is the best storage investment I ever did. Years later, and still it's epic!

is it me or is the Optane 900p amazeballs? i had thought of building in an optane drive but i didn't think it met the cost/benefit of a pcie 4.0 m.2 i only use a small volume drive for boot and keep my game library (pcie 3.0) in D: and my a/v (pcie 3.0) files in E: but i do DL all of my games this difference with the optane is insane and i'm now considering replacing my D: with an optane. will wait for further results

This is my result for a Sabrent Rocket 1TB 3.0 NVMe drive: http://www.3dmark.com/strg/4666 Storage Score = 1988.0 Storage Bandwidth Overall = 346.9 MB/s Storage Average Access Time Overall = 92.0 µs I'll test it for my SATA SSD's too and edit this post with the results. EDIT: SATA3 Crucial MX300 525GB SSD: http://www.3dmark.com/strg/4757 Storage Score = 1017.0 Storage Bandwidth Overall = 181.8 MB/s Storage Average Access Time Overall = 184.0 µs SATA3 Sandisk Ultra II 480GB SSD: http://www.3dmark.com/strg/4796 Storage Score = 921.0 Storage Bandwidth Overall = 163.7 MB/s Storage Average Access Time Overall = 202.0 µs I had thought my Sandisk Ultra II SSD was gonna be faster than the MX300 based on some other tests I remember doing when I first got these SSD's, but nope it's not.

Does it support Raid 0?? I have Raid 0: 980 Pros and can't get past 56 MBps and score 300+ In Crystal Disk Mark: I'm getting 12740 sequential reads.. what up wit dat? 😡

4mb sequential, yes it all depends on file size and the way data is accessed,600mb/s in actual real world data transfer belongs to high end nvmes. Most disk operations are small files in random access https://static.tweaktown.com/content/9/9/9971_27_samsung-980-pro-with-heatsink-1tb-ssd-review.png see what sata ssd's score in this test,860pro at 150mb/s https://static.tweaktown.com/content/9/6/9623_12_team-force-delta-rgb-1tb-sata-ssd-review.png
