Minisforum Neptune HX90G
A compact Formfactor 8-core MiniPC with powerful graphics

Minisforum recently launched something small but mighty. The HX90G is here. A low-power 8-core Ryzen 9 5900HX based PC that you can tuck it away anywhere, not to mention that it is equipped with AMD Discrete Graphics in the form of a Radeon RX 6600M with a really proper 8GB GDDR6 graphics memory. Features include an NVMe SSD, 2.5 Gigabit/s Ethernet, WIFI6E, Bluetooth, USB3, HDMI DisplayPort, and 16GB Dual channel DDR4 DRAM are all included in this bad boy. So yes, Minisforum crams ultra-high-end components into a 2.8-litre chassis.

You are armed with a more robust Ryzen 9 5900HX processor, 16GB DDR4 and 512 GB of memory/storage. There are several configuration options available; Barebone, 16GB RAM+512GB SSD, 32GB RAM+512GB SSD, 64GB RAM+512GB SSD, 32GB RAM+1TB SSD  The barebone version costs $799, and our tested model at 16GB/512GB costs $909 For that money you receive a silent PC that comes with an Ethernet jack tied in at 2.5 Gigabit/s, WIFI6E, Bluetooth USB3, HDMI DisplayPort. The SoC, or better yet, APU empowering this unit, is a  Ryzen 9 5900HX, and that's a mobile 45W 8-core 16-threaded processor. The PC is equipped with an NVMe SSD (512GB), and 2x 8GB of LPDDR4 rated at 3200 MHz. There's even place to install another NVMe SSD. With idle power consumption at close to 25 Watts, this is just so much fun; you will be surprised to see what this product offers in terms of overall performance. And thanks to the 6600M with 8GB GDDR6 you can play games very decently.

Silence is something that MinisForum enabled as well, with the help of an intricate cooling system that is. The HX90G has seven heat pipes (3 for the CPU and 4 for the GPU), liquid metal for both the CPU and the GPU, and a twin fan inside for heat dissipation. Even when fully loaded, it will operate silently.

End users interested in this product should be located in the low-level gaming, SOHO, Net PC, or HTPC markets. The HX90G's small size allows it to fit anywhere, and it comes pre-installed with Windows 11 Pro; it is plenty fast enough for online browsing and office apps like Word and Excel. Simple workloads using Abobe are not a problem either. In addition, you can easily conceal this item behind your monitor or HDTV. Keeping this in mind, this could easily be a solution that accelerates and post-processes high-definition movies and music; ideally, the content would be broadcast over a network. That is where net-tops and mini-tops come in. I wouldn't say I like working on a laptop while travelling; bringing this along and connecting it by HDMI to a TV in the hotel room works fine; add a keyboard and mouse, and you are good to go. We can indeed conceive of numerous application situations. Anyway, let us have a look at what we will be discussing today:
