eVGA GeForce 9600 GT 512Mb SSC edition
eVGA figured ... hey this Guru3D.com; these guys are the Top Gear of hardware, let's ship our Ferrari :)
Thank you! ... as at today's launch we can actually show you how well their GeForce 9600 GT 512MB SSC model is performing. And although I like to call the suffix SSC model Serious Serious Clocked! SSC is short for Super Super Clocked and yes, it really is. Despite behaving like a Ninja in reference disguise, it's under that hood (read cooler) where the magic happens.
Remember that I told you the standard cards are clocked at 650/1625/1800 (core/shaders/memory) ?
The eVGA SSC model kicks the rest in the proverbial nuts with clocks set at 740/1850/1950 (core/shaders/memory) ! Holy torment Batman - that's going to make a performance difference for real. Obviously these SSC models are vanilla handpicked and tested products. Yields are weird, sometimes a product can run insane speeds as everything inside that graphics core is just perfect; these selections are put aside, tested and placed into a different SKU.
Furthermore this is your standard reference looking PCI Express 2.0, HDCP, Pixel Shader 4.0 and DirectX 10, which includes basically everything you need for quality gaming on XP or Vista; yet it's a chunk faster than the rest.
The bundle then. Other than drivers, additional software is not included. You receive the hardware needed to get started & drivers, that's pretty much it. The usual eVGA bundle ... but as stated you will get a pretty massive speed bump on the core & memory frequency. But how does that affect your warranty?
Well dang; Supaaa Supaa Clocked (try to say it with a german accent ;) edition or not you will still get the full Lifetime Warranty if you reside in the USA and 10 years in Europe or outside the USA with this graphics card. And obviously you can participate in the step-up program that eVGA offers.
And at this price-level that's a mighty nice investment people. I am absolutely in love with this card already and haven't even tested it at the moment of writing this piece. Let's have a peek at the geeky photo's; 1st up the packaging & bundle:
Packaging and box contents; included in the box you'll find:
- eVGA GeForce 9600 GT 512 MB SSC edition
- Driver CD
- HDTV block (3-way RCA component)
- SVido cable
- 6-pin to Molex power cable x1
- manual / quick install guide
- VGA->DVI dongle (x2)
Again just like I stated with BFG's product it would be really nice to see that 3-way RCA component adapter removed and see a HDMI converter included. Guys, please dump the 3-way RCA cable + one DVI (Ed: dingle) dongle and insert that HDMI converter.
As you can see, this again is a 100% reference based graphics card. Pretty snazzy sticker by the way. I sense fury, Hell ... is this card evil? Anyway, the eVGA GeForce 9600 GT SSC model comes with 512MB memory and as explained some pretty snazzy clock speeds.
