Testing the mouse

Reviewing a mouse is a bit tricky (almost like with audio devices). Normally I use a Logitech G903 (which is wireless), and you have to remember that I have very big palms. To be honest, I liked the experience with the MODEL O. It is super-light (68g), but good enough for my hands, and should be more than satisfying for most users. The design works well here.

As you can see, the polling rate (1000 Hz) is very stable and stays close to the value that the manufacturer declares.

For gaming tests, I’ve used:

• PUBG,
• Battlefield 1,
• and Call of Duty: WW2

These games require not only patience but also the precision of movement. The Endgame XM1 did very well in all cases. We found that we do not need to go further than 3200 CPI for our gaming needs. Movements register instantly. In comparison with many devices equipped with different sensors, they are very sharp and expressive. We did not encounter any undesirable phenomena (such as the pointer moving by itself) in the tests or when gaming. In Battlefield 1, I was able to quickly get used to the XM1’s shape and weight, with this nimble mouse happy to be thrown around for both flick-shots and controlled movement. Roaming around the map was butter-smooth, and navigating enemy soldiers into my crosshairs was simple. The XM1 doesn’t have interpolation across the entire range of supported resolutions, up to 16,000 DPI. This mouse follows a very minimalist, ambidextrous design with side buttons on the left side only, so it will fit right-handed users best.  The universal shape should fit the needs of most users. As for grip styles, the XM1 should be suitable for all three grip types as well as most hand sizes (it’s a medium-sized mouse). It’s the most suitable for claw and fingertip grip, and the least suited for palm grip.The main buttons are very crispy and responsive thanks to Omrons. They should be very reliable, as they’re rated for 50 million clicks MTBF. The side buttons are easily reachable, and they are pressed with little resistance, with low pre- and moderate post-travel. The mouse is very responsive and does the things you “order” it to. The buttons are positioned correctly, and the placement is not tiresome for the palm.
