Photo overview

The panel screen is matte black, there is very little refraction, albeit the photo does show a tiny bit due to our all grey and white environment. Quite stylish is the design, the bezels are perhaps a notch thicker than I want them to be. However, ASUS probably opted for structural rigidity over aesthetics for a monitor of this size. A vertical tilt adjustment is offered by the stand so you can position it at an angle. At the backside a ROG logo, you need to like the ROG styling. As mentioned you'll get HDMI 2.0 and the DisplayPort 1.4 connectors. That is a proper looking monitor right there alright. Once I aim the screen at a studio lamp you can see that it is a little reflective. In a massively lit room where you could see a bit of reflectivity, the coating is pretty good though. I've seen way worse on many monitors

The monitor has a handy joystick (the top knob) to navigate relatively quickly through the OSD settings, allowing users to switch display parameters with a flick of a finger, including multiple color adjustments. A lot can be tweaked to your preference, ASUS always does that really well.

The buttons and joystick on the backside are accompanied by icons on the front side, so you know what to push at what location. As insignificant as that may seem, lots of manufacturers don't label the buttons and trust me, it's a flurry of random presses in trail and error. At first glance, you might think the monitor has limited connections, however, pull out that latch and things become more premium. Available are:

  • 2x DisplayPort 1.4
  • 2x HDMI 2.0
  • 2x USB 3.0
  • 1x 3.5mm Audio in
  • 1x 3.5mm Headphone out

For 144Hz and/or 3840x2160 DCS you will need to use the DisplayPort connection based on high bandwidth requirements.

Once you remove the latch you can see more connectors. The ASUS ROG Swift PG43UQ comes with a separate power adapter/brick, included in the packaging are an HDMI and DP cable, USB 3.0 cable, manual and logo Projector.  You can move your head up/down/left/right and you will see a wide view-port without too much distortion. Viewing angles are rated at 178°(H)/178°(V), more on that later though, but yeah this one is as good as it gets.
