It almost feels like an Aprils fools joke but, Western Digital has introduced the Ultrastar Transporter, a high-capacity storage solution designed primarily for data transfer. The device incorporates a 368TB solid-state drive and has a variable weight of approximately 13 to 15 kilograms. This storage solution is particularly suitable for film crews and other field operations where slow network connections or high transmission costs impede data storage.

The Ultrastar Transporter, while portable, is not lightweight. It requires 1,300 watts for peak power consumption and is substantial in size, necessitating two units of space in a standard 19-inch rack for proper installation. Discrepancies in the reported weight of the device have been noted, with official documents listing it as nearly 15 kilograms, whereas promotional materials claim approximately 13 kilograms.

Connectivity options for the Ultrastar Transporter include two QSFP112 ports supporting 200GbE for high-speed data transfer, and a 10 Gigabit Ethernet interface accessible via an RJ45 connector. As of now, Western Digital has not disclosed the pricing or specific release date for this device.
