MSI began deploying the AGESA 1.1.7.0 BIOS update across its AM5 motherboard range, confirming compatibility with the upcoming AMD Ryzen 9000 series processors. This development positions MSI as the first to officially declare support for the next generation of AMD processors, underlining its commitment to staying ahead in the technology curve.

The MSI MPG B650 CARBON WIFI motherboard received the beta version of this BIOS update on April 12. The update includes.

  • AGESA ComboPI 1.1.7.0 Patch A, tailored for the forthcoming CPU models.

In contrast, while ASUS has also released the AGESA 1.1.7.0 update for its X670E motherboards, it has not yet confirmed support for the new Ryzen series in its update logs. The forthcoming AMD Ryzen 9000 series, codenamed Granite Ridge, will introduce new desktop processors, including:

  • An 8-core/16-thread model with a 170W TDP.
  • A 6-core/12-thread model with a 105W TDP.

This BIOS update is a crucial step for users planning to upgrade to the next generation of AMD's Zen 5 desktop processors, ensuring their systems are equipped to leverage the advanced capabilities of these new chips.
