UL Solutions has made an exciting announcement, offering the Steel Nomad benchmark to all 3DMark users at no cost. This benchmark is slated for release in the first quarter of 2024 and will be compatible with both Windows and Windows on Arm PCs. Users can access it through various platforms, including Steam, Epic Games Store, or directly from UL. Furthermore, UL Solutions has plans to introduce Steel Nomad and Steel Nomad Lite for Mac, iOS, and Android devices later in 2024. Steel Nomad represents a new generation of graphics benchmarks, aimed at surpassing the popularity of the Time Spy series. This benchmark utilizes a non-ray-traced DirectX 12 API, offering exceptional levels of geometry and raster lighting. Notably, UL Solutions is also diligently working on Steel Nomad Lite, a benchmark tailored for smartphones, tablets, and lightweight notebooks. This initiative is set to enhance benchmarking capabilities across a broad spectrum of devices.
