In addition to speed advancements, SK Hynix also plans to introduce 16 Gbit and 24 Gbit memory modules. The 24 Gbit variant, equivalent to a 3 GB capacity, will allow manufacturers like AMD and NVIDIA to explore new memory configurations without altering the chip count.
The NVIDIA RTX 50 series GPUs are anticipated to be the first to incorporate GDDR7 memory, with an expected market debut by the end of the year. These GPUs are projected to feature a 28 Gbps memory speed, with potential for future models to exceed 32 Gbps. While the prospect of consumer chips achieving the full 40 Gbps speed remains uncertain, a slight reduction to around 36 Gbps appears increasingly feasible.
