Seagate Technology, a renowned leader in mass-data storage infrastructure solutions, has introduced the Seagate SkyHawk AI 24 TB hard disk drive (HDD) tailored for the video and imaging applications (VIA) sector. This release follows the recent debut of Seagate's high-capacity Exos X24 24 TB conventional magnetic recording (CMR)-based hard drive and specifically addresses the growing demand for extensive data storage within the edge security industry. As organizations increasingly implement AI-powered applications, the performance and total cost of ownership (TCO) become closely tied to their capacity to efficiently store and retrieve vast datasets. The Seagate SkyHawk AI 24 TB stands as an advanced video-optimized drive meticulously crafted for network video recorders (NVRs) equipped with AI capabilities for edge security applications. It adeptly meets the demands of contemporary systems tasked with analyzing and recording video footage while concurrently supporting GPU analytics.

SkyHawk AI is designed to intelligently scale and adapt to the diverse surveillance landscapes of today. It can support up to 64 HD video camera streams and an additional 32 AI streams. Tailored specifically for NVR environments empowered by AI for running edge security applications, it accommodates 10,000 hours of video and analytics workloads, including the rigorous demands of 24/7 AI-enhanced surveillance systems. It achieves this without compromising on frame accuracy, thanks to Seagate's potent ImagePerfect AI firmware.

Positioned as an enterprise-class solution, SkyHawk AI boasts exceptional reliability with a mean time between failures (MTBF) of up to 2.5 million hours and a substantial workload rate of 550 TB per year. This workload rate surpasses standard surveillance hard drives by threefold and desktop hard drives by up to tenfold. Seagate's SkyHawk Health Management tool, when integrated into compatible NVR systems, actively monitors environmental conditions and usage patterns, providing proactive recommendations when needed. Additionally, it features RAID RapidRebuild, capable of rebuilding volumes up to three times faster than standard hard drives. The drive comes with a five-year limited product warranty and three years of Seagate's Rescue Data Recovery Service.

The Seagate SkyHawk AI 24 TB HDD is now available for shipping at a price of $599.99.
